Freighter characteristics

I have been trying to figure out what characteristics affect trade, but am a tad lost. For example, does more speed on a freighter make a route more profitable? When ultradrives were discovered I got the feeling all my routes increased in value by 50% (was not monitoring closely before that), so I proceeded to spend over 4k bcs to upgrade all my traders just about doubling their speed, but I saw no rise in trade profit coming from it. So here's my question:

What freighter characteristics affect trade route values?

1. Speed?
2. Multiple trade modules? (didn't even try to add more than one, not sure if it is even possible)
3. Other?

I believe 2 of the key values are "distance from your starting planet to the target planet" and the level of industrial capacity at each. Don't hold me to that.

I think it is the route, not the ship that makes the difference. A fast ship can get your route started quicker, but after that, they are all handled the same.

There are a couple of trade modules and they should stack (I build multiples if I am playing good, though I have not really been monitoring them too closely). I use them also for the production boost... I tend to have 2-3 economic bases around my core world(s).

Trade modules just set up the route, you can't stack them.
