How do I remove the "Flagship" from the sandbox map?

This übervessel destroys the epic feeling for me, I'd just want the ships I can build myself at the beginning. Is there a file I can tweak? Also, can I lower, yes lower, the amount of money at the start from 5000 to say 500..or will it destoy game-balance?
