HELP!!!

Please be more specific. What video card are you using? Do you have the latest drivers? Help us help you.

i know nothing about computers and i don't know what video card i have .
is it the same as a graphics card?

Yes that is the same thing. There is a way to find out what one it is on Windows. Go to control panel and the to the system button ( Im remembering of the top of my head and for XP). A new window should pop up and it will have tabs at the top. Click on the tabs until you find a button with the name Device Manager. It should open up a new window. I believe it will give you a list of things like processor and monitor and lists that can be expanded. I believe the name of the card is under monitor adapters or display drivers or something. Anyway when you expand that it should give you the name.

This is off the top of my head so i might be missing a step. Im at school and we cant have access to the control panel.

i did what you said and under "Display adapters" it has NIVIDA GeForce MX 440

NIVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440

its a 64mb card

Go to http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and select Graphics Driver under Start Here. Then in the next column, click on GeForce and TNT2.  Then choose your operating system from the list. Download the driver somewhere you can find it again, like My Documents or your desktop. 

When it is finished downloading, right click on your desktop and choose properties. Click on Settings.  Click on the Advanced button.  Click on the Adapter tab.  Click on the Proprties button.  Click on Drivers.  Now click uninstall.  Reboot your machine.

When you get back into Windows, cancel out of the Add Hardware Wizard and install the new drivers that you just downloaded.

Also, you must be running at 1024 x 768 or higher and 32 bit color.

i've got windows xp professional but i don't know if the " windows xp professional x64 Edition" is the right one or if i should choose "windows xp/2000"

well i managed to play BETA2 some time ago with an old comp.... possibly i can do it again? lets hope so...
