What's the actual size of the game...? (i'm a bit confused...as usual)

hello again...

this may sound like a stupid question... and it probably is... i was just wondering what the actual size of the game is going to be. I downloaded the pre-load yesterday and that was about 200 +/- megs after it extracted itself.... but then i read in the manual that it's recommened that you have 2 GB of space open.... and after reading that... i think i remember one of the journal entries or maybe another forum posting which said the game would come with or be spread over 2 CDs...

i realize we still need to download some files on Tuesday but i thought that was going to be pretty small....

like i said it's a silly question... but it was just on my mind...

thanks...

The game is a little over 1.1 GB (including tutorials). If you press the + to the left of Galactic Civilizations II in Stardock Central, you will be able to download the rest of the game (except a few key files).

I didn't notice this either until I read this. It could do to be made clearer

What ignusss said. If you only downloaded ~200MB of files with your preload, you didn't get everything that was available. That would just be the core game files (sufficient to play, but not everything).

Click that "+" icon beside the Gal Civ 2 listing in SDC, and you'll see that there are seperate listings for the Tutorials, Movies, and Multimedia. Downloading all of that brings the total size to over 1GB, and will mean you'll only have a few MB to get on the 21st.

The tutorials will still just be images if you don't have the bink viewer.

You can D/L it for free but I decided to wait

I didn't miss the extra downloads, but I will say I was slightly confused as to why when I did the "install" it didn't just load everything and only did the core game. That seemed a little silly to me to have to queue them all up manually.

For me it was a God-send. I get disconnected at least once on the daily, and downloading the movies takes me hours at an average transfer rate of 16 kbps. In fact, I've been downloading the movies since early this afternoon and it's still only 72% complete.
