Question about Custom Races

Hey, I was wondering, If i created a custom race, will I have to use the 'base' races (Dreign, Arcean, Torian, etc) portraits and shipsets? Or are their other portraits aside from the main ones that I can use?

There are only five different base hull styles to pick from (you can customize the colors though), but you can pick any portrait/logo you like from those included in the game (Major races and Minor races both). There are a total of about 30 portraits and 25 logos in the base game.

You can also add portraits/logos by creating images of the correct size, format, and name, and placing them in the same folder as the others. Those new ones will then be accessible in-game.

With the right options enabled the major races have animated portraits. I don't know about the minor though I'm sure someone will let us know.

Minors don't even have real portraits..

well im looking forward to release, I know i will be modding it! and, maybe ill be the first to effectivly mod a terror star?-We all live in hope... oh well those dregin need to taught a Lesson! a lesson in total oblieration!

The minors do so have real portraits.

Also, you will not be able to mod terror stars.  You will have to wait until we develop them.

i think thats a challenge to the mod comunity to put them in before the devs deveolpe them

You can't just give modded terror stars the ability to blow up planets without the capability existing in the game. If CariElf says it's not possible, it's not possible

What do you mean their are only 5 different hull styles? Their are 10 races + minors surely they each have a unique hull style, otherwise you are going to have races out there with the same hull types? I hope I don't see Terran design ships in the hands of the Altarians and the Terrans, that would be a disappointment.

Yes. Some races share the same hull styles. But color are differents, allowing you to know the race owning the ship
