Neophil - take a look at the recent screen shots and see how many of them have a Rainlendar calendar. The fact that it doesn't have a section on WinCustomize does NOT mean that it is not popular. This isn't the only skin archive in town, you know.
lalfonsob, you should contact Stardock at [email protected] or visit the WinFX newsgroups (direct your newsreader to news.stardock.com). Those are better resources for solving problems with drivers and adapters, etc.
Caveat on this one: "Change the desktop icon size to 48x48 while leaving the rest of the Windows icons their normal size." With this option selected, WinFX also "forgets" where you place your desktop icons and every time you reboot or otherwise reset the destkop, all the icons get moved as if you had "autoarrange" selected. You can move them around, but they won't stay where you put them. I've tried it on several different machines, all with the same result.
Download overload, maybe? I'd hate to think Foood overextended his bandwidth on the first day of the month.

Rainlendar - use it, love it, skin it. I'll add a vote for a rainlendar section.
As an individual "end user", there are two things that make Linux unappealing as a desktop replacement for Windows. First, it's still fragmented. I've seen Linux from several different vendors use different ways to install new programs. Until simple things like this are made universal, Linux'll be slow to takeover desktops for the AVERAGE user. Second, it's often complicated to do the aforementioned simple things if you don't want to or can't do them the way the vendor suggests
So that's what all those unused black PCs were in the computer lab back in college. Actually, I knew they were NeXT machines at the time. And I also knew that they were almost always available, whereas the dummy terminals for the campus mainframe had a line of people waiting to use them.
GE still makes their own lightbulbs, medical equipment and jet engines. Just about everything else is imported and rebranded. I've owned two GE VCRs, while my father bought 1 Panasonic. He's still happy with his and I want to replace my second. Ironically, he works for Generous Electric. Oddly enough, GE makes lightbulbs that get rebranded for Phillips and Sylvania. Go figure.

Winamp 3 was/is beautiful. It was a luxury sedan with all the accessories. But it stunk for performance. I love the skins, and I love some of the interfaces. But since I generally run Winamp in the backround while I'm working, I rarely saw it . That's why I won't miss it. When all I really want it to do is quickly load up and play songs, Winamp2 does the job better than Winamp3 - and there are some decent skins for it too.

In the past, I've also used Iconshop (1.20 alpha from http://users.pandora.be/liontech/) as a freeware alternative. It does a nice job of extracting the icons. One Caveat: While it works on my desktop, I can't get the program to run anymore on my laptop - and I have no idea why.

Do you know that of the 2200+ skins, only about 150 have the shellstyles support that give you the graphic you're referring to? I'd love to see a Rainlendar section. I often port WB skins (with permission) and I'd prefer to post them to WC instead of Skinbase or Deskmod. Not that I dislike their sites - but the only thing I use them for is to post my skins. Ok, so I'm lazy. Rainlendar is currently version 0.15, but that's been misleading in my experience. Well, my son is 9 months old. He doesn't care whats on the screen - as long as it's moving. I like the Fauxs-Toon skin because it is different and it fits well with the "Superman Jammies" photo of my kid on my desktop. I liked it enough that I ported it over to Rainlendar (with permission from Mormegil). Most people who have seen it basically ask what OS I'm using because they don't know that you can do this kind of thing with Windows. But I get that response alot - regardless

I had a PC from 1995 to 2000 that I was constantly upgrading (processor, memory, hard drive, OS). I had to do it to keep it from being a snail. But my current desktop and laptop are both PIII machines made in 2000. The only upgrade I've felt the need to do to them is hard drives and Windows XP. An omission on my part: Not everyone experiences the icon rearrangement. Some of us did, but you may not. You should try WinFX 2.0 or the beta of DesktopX before you assume that it wont' work for you.
DesktopX 2.0's IconX function will do this quite nicely for you....but it's still beta on ObjectDesktop and it tends to rearrange your icons on you. Stardock's aware of this and working on it. Expect it to be fixed before the final release. WinFX's "Show large icons on desktop" option is "problematic." It will display large icons. However, it also tends to forget where you put them. So if you like your icons arranged a certain way on your desktop you get to reposition them alot. Just be
