Open up Windows Blinds and click on "Install Skin from Disk." Go to the folder you downloaded the skin to and highlight it and click on open. This should install the skin to your WindoBlinds program. Then just select the skin from your list and click on "Apply this skin now." Works for me. I had a similar problem when I was running the release version, not the demo version, of DesktopX on Windows 98SE. When I upgraded to Windows XP I no longer experienced the problem. It may be that the latest version of DX is optomized to run on XP. I do not know for sure.

dethnite is right about the current beta version. All references to DX2 actually mean one of the latest beta versions with the 1.99 designation. Until beta testing is over you will not see a version offically designated DX2. You need to download the latest beta version. I had a similar problem with release 1.96 and uninstalling, then reinstalling it corrected the problem for me. I do not know if this will work with the latest Beta release or not. I am currently running it on XP SP1 and have not experinced the problem with it. Sorry can not be of more help.

DesktopX won't start! in Stardock Software WinCustomize Forums

Version is 1.96 on Windows XP. All of a sudden I got a message saying that windows must shut down desktopX. When I try to restart it I get a message that says "application failed to initilize properly (0xc0000005) click to terminate application". I have uninstalled and reinstalled DesktopX twice and still get the same message. Anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? I need help! <img src="http://images.stardock.
