You can build treasure finders, modules, pilgrims, supply ships, gem finders, etc. Cheers, CB

Here are a few random thoughts on the game. I'm writing this from work and some of the terminology may be off. This is whatever version was active on April 29. Observations First of all, I needed a VPN to pick up the DLC on Epic. I wasn't in the right region. New Jersey worked. I'm not sure why this wouldn't be global. On the fourth difficulty from the highest, it was not too hard to get a Prestige victory without any fighting whatsoever. The
I fired one up the other day on Incredible difficulty using this: https://forums.galciv4.com/512126/page/1/#3850956 (Sycloness' guide) for the first 25 or so turns. I have put scanners on starbases and I agree that's helping to spread influence quite a bit. I used the largest galaxy size and I'm glad I turned off Prestige victory as I was too far from the Mimots to have slowed them down much before I think they'
Interesting stuff. What difficulty do you play at? Also, do you go for a prestige victory? Cheers, CB
Thanks for the tips. Cheers, CB
Some good points by the OP and others. I've got a couple of points (note that I last played in mid-April and I played at Normal difficulty): Victory: When getting close to a prestige victory , it would be nice if the other players ganged up on you. I purposely declared war on a bunch of AIs just for excitement near the end. Maybe jack up the diplomacy negatives as you get closer (-1 at 750 points, -2 at 800, -3 at 850,
Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure the AI races were set to Genius. I'll doublecheck. At the end of an Alliance victory I was cruising through Allied territory scooping up capsules and even the odd artifact. Also, my allies had about 2-3 relics with starbases each, with plenty of unclaimed relics nearby. The only thing holding me back was the new Admin feature, which is a good feature in my opinion. Cheers, Capt. B
It sounds like you had a one-off situation. I'd fire up a new game. It's good to be diplomatic in your race traits and also to build embassies and diplomatic modules on starbases, as well as researching diplo techs. That usually keeps all potential enemies except maybe the Drengin or other baddies at bay. Cheers, Capt. Beefheart
Gents (and Ladies?), Apologies if this has been addressed. I don't go to the forum too often. I come back to this game on occasion after updates to check it out, and one thing that still disappoints me is that AI races build very few relic starbases and they don't seem to touch anomalies (at least they leave a lot lying around). This hasn't changed in 2.0 on an insane map and genius difficulty with eight other races.
Thanks, androshalforc. Cheers, CB
Thanks for the reply, Exelsis. Thinking about it some more, maybe if you are trading with someone they will take into account mutual trade routes before calling you an "easy target" and declaring war? That would be my guess. Your ZOC answer makes a lot of sense. Cheers, CB
I'm trying to figure out the precise meaning of: Diplomacy Statistic bonus increased from 2 to 3 [what is the "Diplomacy Statistic" used for?] Conquest Victory Goal is not active until after turn and the player has a reasonable military [Is there a turn number missing?] Easy target modifier now takes trade routes into effect and reduces the impact accordingly if the player is trading with them [What is this
I've fallen into a rut where it seems all I have to do is research Diplomacy and the game eventually falls in the bag at the highest difficulty level. Are there any good mods which affect gameplay (not worried about planets, ships, etc.)
