oh boy talk about taxing the memory cells.. i think the first game I played was called the The dark cave or some thing like that. Was a text adventure on the microbee in 1983 or 1984
Good to see some life in here....i thought we might need a defibrillator to get you guys going again!!!
You had better believe it. Reminds me, you keeping that remote start key thingmajing polished for that Terror star of evil? You never know when you will need it to reflect that halo glow from those upstart confused do gooders . PS don't put that defibrillator away.. It's almost as good as a coffee in the morning and it doubles as a good security scramble
cough cough is this old keyboard working.. hmm dust is sticking the ffff key. any way just calling in not dead.. hmm need to do some meta games.. ranked 211.. swore i would stay in the top 100.. oh well life needs a bullet for getting in the way of galciv.. time to kick some tail pipes of those young nebula skaters after I finish those pesky dread lords off. If any of you are on xfire look me up [link="http://www.xfire.com/profile/bakka22/"] X-fire[/link]an
have a search through the beta forum and you might get some clues.. (I think)
I didn't have time to confirm this bug so if someone else could confirm please. Started beta 6 and loaded a game and played a few turns and all the"Auto launch" setting work just the way I liked them. I accidently deleted a ship design so reloaded the last autosave (which i have set to every turn) Fixed up my ship design and continued to play . A few turns later I noticed none of my new ships being built would "auto launch" Did some quick buys and
Beta 6 Small bug. Nothing happens in star port window when you hit the rally point button. exit from star point to main window and the assign rally point window appears.
Suggestion: tiny stark white text on pure black is hard on the eyes. Any chance of a friendlier color scheme that didn't involve pure white or pure black backgrounds, that are notoriously harsh on a backlit monitor? Dark text against a nice, comforting neutral grey background can be "science-fictiony" too
Isn't this the most eviromental friendly way to display web sites? (says the bloke who turned of the heating last winter because he had enought computers
One possible reason for the turn button going on walkabout is that a terror star on autopilot is getting stuck behind an enermy space station on it's way to it's next target.. :) No proof or saved game to show this but it has just happened to me.
This could be a work around.. Send a miner to the astroid with the stuck ship and build the miner base to the max of your current tech. When it has been built your stuck ship should be able to move again. It worked for me though I did have all miner techs possible so not sure it would other wise work. cheers Bakka
yep. Well as long as it was at the 20000BC point and no finacial event happening. Someone has hinted that there is also a slight tax hit at 5000BC and 10000BC marks as well but I've not done any testing to prove or disprove this.
My economic experience with the Altarians has been fairly weird. I'm not building and using hundreds of constructors every turn, nor am I constantly losing trade routes. But my economy will go from deeply in the green (1500 or more net income) to deeply in the yellow (1000 or more net loss) from one week to the next. I haven't built lots of high maintenance buildings, I haven't changed my tax rate, my approval hasn't dropped. It's so high I can tax my population at 100% and all my planets
Shoot me if it has already reported but playing as Yor and my fleet with three ships lost a heavy fighter. the graphics stayed as the three ships instead of down sizing to two ship graphics. Not sure if it is fixed on load game. didn't have time to test it. Are others seeing this as well and for other races? Bakka

This is not a true pole. It's a clever anti industrial spy trap by Brad. ie all those who voted for december.. bakka
Did you know that you can zoom the bottom part in and out to see more or less as you need? Bakka
2. I think you will find the hull sizes in the file GC2Types.xml and will be able to change the cost of them. GC2Types.xml cheers Bakka
there is a remake of the game called Ur-Quan that is free and works under windows Xp. they couldn't call it SC 2 because of legal reasons I'll post the link tonight from home if someone else doesn't find it before hand.
It seams like my 7900GT had a currupt core. Now running a 8600GT and every thing is sweet. The eye candy factor is back up to max every thing and no jaggies and no light house suns now.. well back to my rare planet gigantic game, them yor are cruising for a bruising edits.. oops ment 8600GT not 8800GT (they aren't out yet)
hehe.. i never overclock my own stuff but i do overclock "friends" machines i build for them. I don't believe i have a heat issue but i will check it out. thanks for the suggestion. Bakka
Damn. I've been getting the same with my GeForce 7900 GT on a few different games. I thought it was graphics card was going out. Actually i still think it's going bad because all the default vga screens have hot spot pixel points (sorta like a digital camerea thats been exposed to the sun to long.) Also the windows boot have errent characters displayed. ie instead of "Booting drive C:" it displays "BooØing drive ⌂:" better go investigate a little more i think. Bakka
. - Rotations could use a fine tuning option, allowing less than 45° rotations. I know this will probably not be possible, but I would love to have an option like that. One of the options screens already allows you to change this value. I've generally got it set 10 degrees. But would be better if it was actually in the ship yard next to the rotation dials.
A heap of peeps from the old Galciv 1 game and old forum coming across to the new game and new forum.
Just finished a 10 hour game which I won by surviving the pirate's attack longer than the Ai's Set up was max AI's (9?) on easy, 4 solar systems with 40 planets. I manaaged to kill off the other two starters in my solar system and had just got to the second solar system when I got the "All players have been eliminated" message. Just for your interest.. Bakka
Can't activate or register the game? See here first! have a read of this thread and follow the advice there. Bakka
