I guess this is not the case with starbases ... their repair bonus applies to all ships in the sector, even those that are not in orbit ?
As it was kindly pointed out to me, and as it is said in the "getting galciv betas" sticky, you need a subscription to Drengin.net to get them. When the beta flag is removed, everyone can get them through SDC.
I'm confused about the relation between drengin.net and SDC ... I thought that one did not need a sub to drengin.net to have access to the betas (but maybe I'm just confused).

I'd really like to hear Brad's opinion about what one buys when one buys software ... OK, I'm almost done reading his articles, and I just want more :d But still, in that regard, software seems to be a lot different from books or music.
Well, I decided to stick to the web forums then ... There's the only one I can read at work ;) I'll still use SDC to update, though.
Is it just me, or the information about which message is read is not propagated between to Stardock central forums and the web forums ?
I'm just trying SDC for the first time right now, and it seems to work fairly well. I just have one small question: how does it interfere with the web based forums (as concerns the information that a message has been read, been read and answered ...). It seems that the forums in SDC don't remember what I read using a web browser. ~SDC~
Unfortunately I'm using Phoenix (or Firebird) and I don't get these tooltips (by the way, looking at the page source, it seems to be because it does not detect Phoenix as being able to process javascript.

The updates and the great amount of feedback is the main reason I decided to buy this game (and as I buy about 2 games a year, it's a tough decision to make). Oh, and there is also the meager fact that I played a couple games *looks innocent* and I'm totally hooked ;)
Thanks, I clicked everywhere and finally found the icon description. But what is the one you have at the right ? It's not in the description (and I don't really know what is looks like). And thanks for the wincustomize hint. I think this deserves a FAQ (a sticky in the general forum, maybe ?)
As you can guess, I just registered on this web site. I've been reading many messages here, and I'm trying to make sense of all the icons at the bottom. I could find no explanation about them in the website (I must have missed it). Another account question: is there a preference page somewhere (like to change my password or these kind of things) ? If there is a website FAQ, I'd really like to know where it is. Thanks a lot.
Does one get the bonus of building a starbase on a resource to start with, or is it necessary to improve it before the resource becomes mined ?
