To clarify, the Hide Build Menu option does work correctly, hiding the menu at the beginning of the game and allowing it to be toggled if desired. With that option off, however, the menu pops up after founding and can't be toggled at all.

On two separate occasions tonight, the game froze partially in the middle of an FFA, with no particular trigger that I noticed (two other games played out without issues). In both cases, most of the animations stopped working and keyboard input no longer registered, but mouse inputs did and the game continued to advance. Basically, the game was mostly playable, but you couldn't see most of what was going on. Output log files for the two games: <a href="http://www.filedropp
My understanding is that returning claims was intended to allow players to correct for misclicks after immediate claims were implemented. Given the relatively lax restrictions on when claims can be returned, however, the feature can be used for a variety of things that it maybe shouldn't be possible to use it for. 1. Adjusting claims post-auction: I'm mostly fine with the idea that you can refund a claim if an auction comes up that makes the claim redundant, but Pbhead does su

Bump to link to an ugly table on the wiki that reflects new bond rating thresholds. http://offworldtradingcompany.gamepedia.com/Debt#Rating_Formula To summarize, D debt requires more debt to reach for every number of players except 4.
I believe Veivi's contention is that founding doesn't have to become a gamble unless you let it become one. I think I'd tend to agree that we (i.e. most players) are conservative about founding with high debt (and our frequent trips into D debt feel like they vindicate that), to the point where we're shooting to get a very large advantage off of founding and losing out tremendously if we fail to get the spot. If we instead plan to found the moment it becomes slightly favorable
I shouldn't call people out since I had no confidence in myself for my own prediction, but I guess I really have something left to prove still :P Do we have a deadline to get our first round matches in? TheSpinCycle was telling me the weekend would work much better for him.
I suppose I'll join as well.
Offworld Trading Platform seems to be getting me every time, I can't seem to get there. Here are a few more points and I've said this from the beginning (early Alpha) Game ends too abruptly
Assuming we're really talking about 1v1 quickmatch and basing conclusions off that, I'd tend to agree. In my experience, because 1v1 is so close to zero-sum, things can sn
It looks like the second player to found in a 1v1 instantly gets to found with no debt now (and also no possibility of extra bonus money)? Beyond that odd quirk, I couldn't really get a read on any of the changes from today's 1v1 daily. There was a weird moment in my replay, around the start of day 3, where the AI throws an EMP at empty space, though. EDIT: Also wanted to mention that hotkeys for choosing HQ types during the founding phase no longer work. A silho
The AI is definitely better about defending itself now, but there are still instances where it gets hyperaggressive then can't defend itself. I still managed to get some majority buys done on today's awkward map, so I imagine stronger maps (with as many AIs) may still go quickly, but daily challenges seem like they'll be less of a pure rush going forward.
There's one hint about secondary buildings that says that they should be next to "you" HQ instead of "your" HQ. And in an attempt to be slightly more helpful: Subsidiaries give a percentage of their cash on hand to stockholders every second. If a subsidiary has too little cash, you may not receive any income. Expansive HQs add the most to Pleasure Dome income while Robotic HQs add nothing, and the amount added scales with HQ level. Buying or sell
There's a bug on beta 9 where some replays don't upload correctly but the eye still appears, so no, there's nothing you can really do for now. The issue is fixed on beta 10, though, so once that goes live, this won't be a problem anymore. (The eye not appearing indicates that the daily was played on a different version, usually beta 10)
I tend to agree that auction pauses are fine as they are. That said, I could be convinced that player-initiated auctions shouldn't pause the game, since those can really break up the flow of the game if a few happen in quick succession.
Every time a resource unit is purchased or sold, its market price changes by $0.00x. This is what the wiki's front page looks like for me: http://prntscr.com/9iql57 Basically, it's a bit wide for those of us stuck at lower resolutions. It does look reasonably fine at 75% zoom, though.
Two problems with the early found warning: 1. You're not allowed to actually found, even if you click yes. 2. Clicking yes on the popup causes the game to remain paused. In and of itself, this isn't necessarily a problem, but if the change speed setting isn't on, there isn't any way to continue the game (spacebar and + hotkeys don't work).
There seem to be some issues with how shift buys work in beta 9, as in some test games, my shift buy would buy 9 stocks in a player who already had 2 stocks owned by other players. Basically, my shift buy was displacing a stock owned by someone else. That said, shift buys don't feel like they should exist under the current stock system. The dynamic of taking stocks one at a time seems important to the system because of how multiple people can participate now, and allowing people t
You really need to issue these challenges when there's actually time for me to get around to trying again :P That said, it's interesting to see that you can manipulate AI founding times somewhat, as that's a trick I wouldn't have thought to try after the fix went in from when things were very obviously broken. I can't figure out a good way to beat your score from today either, so I'm clearly going to have to step my game up at some point. EDIT: Got pret

I'd agree on teams needing to share any resource that relates to debt. While it's possible that we just haven't yet found the right strategy to counter the power rush meta, I think it's a good idea to take that away instead of leaving it as what seems like the only winning strategy. Extending the games is a good thing, as it opens up a lot more opportunities to explore late-game options. As for scavengers, I also feel they need a buff. Debt, in particular, feels more p
Yes, the thresholds are a percentage of your total value and the bond rating is based solely on that percentage. So if your total value increases by upgrading your HQ, then your bond rating could improve as well. (Placing offworlds may or may not increase your total value, depending on how prices compare to the $40 carbon, $120 steel, $160 glass, and $200 electronics baselines) And another note on thinking about things in terms of assets instead: I find it useful because the assets an
So, just to make sure I'm getting this clearly, 2&3 player games have a different threshold scale; one where D rating starts at 5% and 6.67% of TV (as do 7&8 player games)? And you're saying that the total assets of a player affect their bond rating (even if they stay at the exact same debt amount)? Or is this just an easier way of showing how the amount of debt required to change ratings scales with the HQ values, bas
Definitely feel free to use my recent post for the debt page. I honestly didn't even know there was a wiki before you mentioned it, so developing it into a helpful resource would be great.
with the way in which the stock system works and gameplaay runs out, it is no longer greatly beneficial to pay off debt. also, paying debt has a 4x boosting effect not 5x because the 1x value of the cash used to cancel debt disappears.
I guess I never mention this explicitly in my wall of text, but I do account for that, hence why it takes $25,000 of debt payments to add $1 to stock value instead of $20,000. I&
