Attila44, you said the application lowered your benchmark score. How much did it lower it by and what is your system spec?
Evil Furby
I've finally had my order dispatched from Amazon.co.uk, about time too.
Attila44, you sound like you run a very optimised gaming system with the minimum ammount of background services running. When gaming are you shutting down your firewall and antivirus software? If you are then I suspect an unsecured system might be causing you more spyware problems and a bigger performance hit than a small quick starter application sitting in memory.
What is the airflow like in your case? The gfx card will be heating up but you might not be getting rid of the warmer air fast enough and not drawing in enough cool air. What power supply do you have? It could be that the graphics card is trying to draw extra power the power supply cant provide which is upsetting everything else. If your case hasnt been opened in a while have a look and see if its dusty inside. If it is, power it down and use some co
Why didn't I order from play.com
I might have to get playing GC1 if my copy of GC2 doesn't arrive soon.
They are actually showing them as in stock today so you could have it by friday. Amazon are still showing 1-2 weeks for dispatch . I'd like to have it to play over the weekend.
I think i read that the resolution has to be greater than 1000x1000. You need to select a display mode where the horizontal and vertical pixel count exceeds 1000.
Where did you order from? I'm still waiting for Amazon to dispatch mine
I'd like to see awards for number of losses (5,10,25, 50,100 etc). What about an award for the games that take more than a certain number of turns.
What does the blue screen say?
What else did you have running in the background? I know Mozilla Firefox can be a memory hog if its left open due to its page cache. The combined load on the system could have used all the main memory and page file causing the crash.
Yeah, the driver link is very obvious on the site. The only thing i can think of is you have Javascript disabled and it is required to drive the menu.
If you want to try a new video driver you need to get the Catalyst 6.2 driver for windows 2000.
Command deck at the front, engines at the rear. Just fly the planet around.
I admit that waiting is painful, I've been hanging around the forums for hours reading up on how good the game is. Still the ammount I have saved with the reduction kinda makes the extra wait worth while.
Glad it worked for you too. Looks like they have stock in now, fingers crossed that I might be playing by tuesday
Update: After contacting Amazon they have updated my purchase to the new lower price.
The price of GC2 on Amazon.co.uk has dropped to the same price as that of play.com. Whilst this is good news my order is still waiting for dispatch and shows the older price. I have tried to contact Amazon to see which price they will charge me, no reply yet. I advise anybody else who has an order with Amazon to check what they charge you.
I feel your pain. I have ordered from Amazon.co.uk for the Paradox Collectors edition. It was due for dispatch today but alas I got an email telling me there was a delay. With postage time I might not get the game until the end of next week at the earliest. From what I read its going to be worth the wait. I just wish I didn't have to wait another week though.
I wouldn't describe the 6600GT as "low end". Having just purchsed one and done the research on it I found it to be a good midrange card. When looking for a GFX card just avoid the light/cut down versions. Direct X 10 compatable cards will emerge but its likely that it will take sometime for games to take advantage of them. I purchased a 6600GT as I was on a slight budget. It's a card with a good price performance ratio that will play alot o
I once played a game called Stronghold, set in the days of Knights of old. I remember that when it got to midnight or there abouts a sound file was played telling me "It's getting a little late sire." It was a nice touch to that game and it would be nice to have something similar added to GC2.
According to Paradox, Amazon.co.uk (and the other European versions) should get the limited/collectors edition.
