Building the Empire. If you see a minor race sitting on a really nice system, go immediately for propulsion theory/cold fision/impulse drives. Thay way you will get transports. Now, while researching Corvette (through military theory) build 2-3 transports. Then accuse them of keeping WMD or whatnot and invade. Making ends meet. Dont build every social project. That way you keep your maintainance down to managable levels. I usually avoid medical center, embassy, infonet and news

If I am not mistaken, any hitpoint bonuses you get are applied only to the maximum of the ships you have, with the actual number rising as per the repair rate. Think of it as refitting the old fleet with new technology. In any case, this definetly happens when you regain after losing the control of the senate as the war party.

Especially insidious would be human style sneak attacks by the computer - with a large invasion that serves as the decleration of war. Perhaps for 'genius' and up, but this would even things a bit, and make the human a bit more paranoid, making the game that more enjoyable. Careful defensive planning and use of scouts and sensor drones as a recon screen would be paramount. I can see invasion stacks as suggested by Godzilla as not too hard to implement, as the game already provides stack

The military bonus resource is a bit overpowered. If you have one and your enemy does not, after you upgrade it with medium level techs (nano-rig extraction, etc) your ships simply become too powerful for the AI to handle - or, if you lack them, the AI's ships become too powerful instead. With only a single mil. resource maxed out to full, my dreadnaughts can achieve a 3-1 kill ratio against enemy dreadnaughts. If I am vastly outnumbered, all I need then to do is to defend and

Submitted my first game - found out that I needed to register here first only recently. It was painful difficulty, on large map. Easy -very easy- victory for me there; and I started in the smack middle of the map, with everyone surrounding me. After I got past the battleship stage and got dreadnaughts, it was smooth sailing.

I have felt the absence of any planned attack on part of the AI over and over again now. Unless the AI is much more powerful in terms of economic or military muscle, they usually fail to capture even a single planet against the stubborn human. They just keep attacking the closest planet and move onto the next one if all its defenders are dead, wasting its already damaged ships on it. Only then the AI will send out btransports to capture it, but of course it will be too late by then as

"nah the only thing i find gay is the fire sprites in that explosion scene reminds me of some drawing i used to do when i was 12" - Aerain. And how long ago was that? Judging from your posts your arent older than 14. Please stop littering the forum with useless comments on the quality of cinematics and how 'gay' they are.

I think he meant Bulge fans. It was 101st Airborne's answer to the German demand of surrender. Jerries had Bastogne surrounded with all the cool toys they could muster and wanted to avoid unnecessary loss of life in actually taking the town. They miscalculated slightly.

The idea behind SDC is that you can DL patches only if you have valid serial number. Since SDock is planning to update the game for a whole year, it is a pretty good way to protect your investment from piracy if you ask me. Piderman - if you ask nicely, I am sure good folks at SD will help you out.
