The Founders Alpha for Servo starts today and we are all excited to see what everyone thinks. The game is still rough, it is only an alpha after all. This is the first time we've ever released something this soon. NDA Reminder - Please do not post screenshots or video from the Founders Alpha. Why do it? We want feedback. Servo is an interesting beast. One foot is squarely in R

It is that time of the week again! Servo Founders should make their way over to the Founder's Vault for a look at the latest batch of materials that have been added. This week's additions include a concept of some new Bloomspawn enemies and more.
Latest Servo Build: 276 Just One More Game I played the hell out of the Civilization series for many years. Like many players, I found myself bleary eyed in the wee hours of the morning saying, "just one more turn". Then, "just one more turn" again. Then, the sun would come up and I realized I'd been saying just one more turn for the past three or four hours. I had a bit of that experience playtesti
By William Lemons After one of our team's recent play tests we all talked about who our favorite Servo pilot was. While the team all had different responses for who they preferred, I am here to tell you there is only one right answer. The best pilot is Zeth. The reason? Two words: Orbital Strike. Every Servo pilot has their own special ability. Zeth has the power to call down an Orbital Strike: a massive beam of destructive light summoned from space. Wh
Servo Founders should check out the Founder's Vault today for another update of art and other development materials to give you an idea of how the game is taking shape. There will be more to come next week so keep an eye out!
Glad you're digging the cliffs! [e digicons]:D[/e] Yes, the game was far from finished when it was announced and truly it is still pre-alpha so there's a lot of work to do yet.
Latest Servo Build: 266 I completely dropped the ball and missed out on our Servo playtest session on Tuesday this week. Well, really what happened is I had a deadline for some tasks and needed to get those done - which included updating the Founder's Vault with some new stuff. Dropping in to the extra mid-week playtest session we had yesterday I was met with new UI art and new terrain art. None of which is fi
Today the Founder's Vault was updated showing some of our latest work on the game, as well as a couple of older art pieces from earlier this year. There's also a new PDF that we hope will give you a taste of what the world of Servo will be like. As always, thanks for your support!
You are correct, a specific date has not been given for the start of the friends and family alpha yet. We still have some work to do before we're ready to start the F&F alpha, but it shouldn't take months and months. Stay tuned, I think more details will be forthcoming within weeks.
GameSpot is taking a look at a couple of upcoming strategy games, including Servo. They had a sit down with Bruce Shelley and Dave Pottinger from BonusXP to get an idea of just what Servo is all about: " You do command your servo(s), of course, but base-building is still an important component. You and your enemies are fighting over a res
The world of Servo is very war torn and ravaged by battle. Skyscrapers will have burned out holes from artillery blasts and the roads will be pock marked with missile craters. Part of the fun of having giant mechs in a world like this is the idea of smashing apart this environment even more. The buildings, which are my current task and the subject of this post, are a going to carry most of that burden. <a href="https://draginol.stardock.net/images/islan
The Founder's Vault is being updated as I type with five new items, check in to see some of our latest work: http://www.servogame.com/vault One of them makes a pretty good desktop background. :)
Latest Servo Build: 255 It's a playtest heavy week here at BonusXP. We're trying out some new ideas and new content which requires us to just sit down and play the game to see if it is going in the right direction. Our whole company participates and we have a feedback session immediately after we play the game to talk about what was fun, what wasn't, and ideas for what to try next. It's very open, with some of the best ideas being prefaced with, "This might be crazy
What is a Battlefield Briefing? It is our weekly update on what's going on with Servo and the people making the game. We will be bringing you updates on our plans, how the game is coming along, how it's playing in our playtest sessions, and discussing all your feedback, of course. If you have something specific that you'd like us to cover in a future update, please do leave a comment with your suggestion. If you follow <a href="https://twitter.com/Servogame"
PCGamesN recently sat down with Bruce Shelley to talk about the evolving RTS genre, our game Servo, combat in the game, and even about the pilots that drive these giant machines: “You’ll accumulate pilots as you play,” Shelley explains. “Each pilot has a special ability, sort of like in Age of Empires where civilizat
Alex is a programmer at BounsXP, and most definitely a big fan of big robots. By Alex Swaim If you somehow haven’t heard yet, we’re making a game about exploratory resource mining called Servo! It also features controlling armies of robot minions headlined by giant piloted mechs that you get to build from an assortment of gear and weapons. I couldn’t be happier about t
Hiya tid, we absolutely plan on traditional one-time-pay DLC and expansions for Servo.
Awesome to see Warzone 2100 has such a dedicated community of fans. The FAQ page has some general information that may answer your questions, give it a look see. More details will be coming out in the weeks or months ahead.
Very cool to see you mention a game's soul, you're obviously passionate about this. We're a ways out from getting serious about the game's sound, there's a lot of placeholder or missing sounds right now as we work on gameplay/art, but thanks for your input. There are so many pieces that come together to make a game immersive and entertaining, and it all has to reach a high quality bar - voice acting included.
No date on when the F&F alpha will be starting yet...when there is we'll certainly do our best to let everyone know. Definitely going to be a good game to play with a friend! :)
My only request , please allow an option to browse the forum in a more generic "classic" looking mode so that it is more discreet while at work [e digicons];)[/e]
Hehehe, welcome timos. I don't know if Stardock's forums support a "boss" button like those old PC games did, might be a good feature request. :)
Hello there, thanks for pre-ordering. :) Your question about skirmish/practice mode is a good one. Pretty early on we were wanting a way to test out different Servo builds/combos so there is a very basic practice level in the game now - stay tuned for more details.
BonusXP's Dave Pottinger checks in from GDC where he and Bruce Shelley are currently giving demos of Servo... By Dave Pottinger We finally got a chance to unveil Servo over the last week. The reaction has been outstanding. It seems like eve
Torso rotation has come up in our talks about turning speed, yes. :) Oh! Forgot that screen was in the trailer. There are the standard things you can customize as you mentioned, legs, arms, head, chest, and a couple of other slots to add even more options/bonuses to your Servo. They represent the internal hardware/software of the Servo. Customization and options!
Thank you! :)
I'm wondering if there are plans to make them turn slower or have animations for turning, as right now they whip about on a dime.
We've gone back and forth on this and had many long discussions about it. We're looking for that sweet spot somewhere between responsiveness and making it look good. ...good eye.
My last question comes down to the customization. I'm c
