Sounds like a good game! Very similar to how I played my last game. I never fired one shot, in fact, I never built any armed ships at all, all I built was several custom construction ships.

I made 2 classes of construction ships to focus on a cultural victory, one the Polar 10 (basically the cheapest construction ship you can build but looked very similar to the 30) and the Polar 30, shown here which was much improved over the 10. Although more expensive, the 30 had twice the speed and enough range to cover an entire tiny galaxy which was exactl
Thats whats good about games like this, you can actually play on the lowest level and try to beat your score each time. Me, I usually play GalCiv2 and CIV4 on average (or slightly higher) levels just so I can have fun and at the same time try new strategies and see how well I do each game, attempting to better my scores each time. Since these games are a new game each time, you never know what you run into. I have had times when I played a CIV4 game on the same exact level with the same settings
I have been building Mars into a research colony in all of my games. I never tried any other route.
First off, it started by me paying the Torians, whom I was allied with, to attack the Iconians. I had 4 AI races in the game, I was allied with 3 of them, all but the Iconians. So I decided to kind of stay out of it all together, so I gave away a small fleet I had to the Torians. Thing is, my neighbor was the Iconians and they were a sector away. So when I gave the Torians ships, they would be right there and can attack the Iconians right away. I figur
Here is one of my massive "Louisiana" Class Battleships I made to fight the Iconian Refuge war.
I have been playing on beginner level w/4 races, tiny (or small sometimes) galaxy, have played about 3 games so far and never did I find a Ranger ship, not one and not in one game. I imagine my galaxy size has something to do about it? I would like to know how just the opposite, how can I find one of these ships so I can conquer the galaxy?
Admiral Enigma, that is a huge ship! I can't believe the size of that thing!
I really like those ships Scryd!
Not too fancy, the Jolva Frigate, also known as "Mini Star Destroyer" is a big ship in a small package.
These ships are incredible! All of them from the start of this thread! As mentioned, I would love to be able to download these. I have made some very nice ships myself, will post some photos when I can.
You do know that shields defend against lasers, armor against guns, and point defense against missiles right? So for example, if the AI has alot of laser equipted ships, design some of yours with shields. Other then this, I have not noticed any difference in weapons, so its like a rock, paper, scissors kind of thing as far as I know.
Point of Starbases? Tell me you are kidding? There are so many points of building Starbases that I won't even begin to list it all.
The thing we have to remember is, an AI is a computer, that said it will not forget to do a move. For example, say you are playing a game of chess, you never seen that rook about to take your queen out, the comp, it will always see it and won't forget to move it. Another thing, I would not underestimate its ability to design a ship, as noted above, it can and will surprise you. In GalCiv1, I used to lose on a regular basis against the AI, time and time again even on lower difficulty levels. So
In the description of the basic constructor ship, it specifically says you only need 1 constructor module per ship.
Hard points are just for visual right? Say I design a ship and put on a few laser beams, maybe put 2 forward and 2 in the rear. Does this effect the way the ship will fight? Like if I have all forward firing lasers and a ship is on my rear, can I still return fire even though I have no rear weapons? This was the case in MoO2, wonder how it works here.
Picked mine up at CompUSA earlier this evening, they only had 2 left. I was always a fan of the original GalCiv, loved it so I figured GalCiv2 would be even better. Well, to my surprise, not only is it even better, man its MUCH better! Everyone was saying how good it was and they were right. The shipyard by itself was just plain fun, I could not believe the options that were there! I was trying to make a ship which looked like the Nebulon B Class Frigate in Star Wars, well, I ended up with somet
I may go ahead and order the download and CD option. After you download the game, anyone know if you get sent the full retail boxed version or is it just the CD?
