This is why I like windows over Apple. I have a lot of control over my PC.
Yeah but I have an iPhone and I'm pretty deep in Apple's ecosystem at this point. More then likely, due to how insanely priced Macs are, I'm be getting another HP All-In-One with Windows 11. Just gonna have to buckle down and learn to love it. I do have my copy of Start 11 so that will help.
Then why do you waste your time here?
It's not a waste of time. There is more to WC then just skinning. I have many friends here and once upon a time, long ago, I made a few skins myself. I enjoy the discussions we have here about various subjects. I always skinned Windows 7. When 10 came out I just didn't get around to skinning it and more or less just got used to the plain black taskbar.
Oh come on, Kona .....you're on a Skinning site and you're saying Skinners cannot do better than Microsoft? We've been doing it better than them ever since before Windows was invented...
Sorry there Jafo. I haven't skinned my computer in a very, very long time. I don't know why, I just find the default black taskbar just works for me.
Boy Howdy, as a S

I haven't skinned my computer with any program in more then 10 years. I like the default simple look that MS gave us with Windows 7 and 10 in dark mode. I'm pretty sure in 3 years Windows 11 adoption rate will be so low that MS will be forced to provide another 5 years of updates to Windows 10.
So far using Win 11 has been plain sailing based on settings we have all discussed, i do not think my Computer habits are anywhere mainstream as i have very specific interests and so far Windowblinds has been the only Casualty
Nothing wrong with the default look of Windows. I haven't used Windowblinds in well over 10 years. Just a plain looking black taskbar. Another reason I will not use 11 is the way it displays
I do not see 11 being another Windows Vista or even Windows 8.
Then you are blind. Just from the bad press 11 has gotten so far from word of mouth I don't see many people upgrading to 11 from 10. I will not use 11. 11 hates my video card and HP will not make drivers for 11 even though my PC is less then a year old.

Jafo I was going to come home tonight from work and tell the newbie how it is. As far as I know,. you have been doing this longer then many of us, even longer then us old timers. I would think you would know the ins and outs of Windows and a few other operating systems better then most. Glad to see it all got sorted before I got home. :)

So I have this strange issue. I go into settings and choose a custom picture for my lock screen. The next time I wake the computer up from sleeping it still shows a different picture, usually one of the stock photos that come with Windows 10. So I go back into settings and change it again, make sure it's all set, yet the picture never shows up. I've tried this with several pictures, none of them work, it always reverts to one of the stock photos. Not sure what to search for on Google so I tho
I would suggest going to the chip manufacturer for a driver. If it's a AMD CPU/APU go to AMD. If you have an Intel CPU/APU go to Intel. They should have a driver for your system. Both Companies also should have a program to detect which driver you need if you are unsure on which driver to pick.
I've tried that. It does not work. Apparently Windows 11 prefers the Intel UHD 630 integrated video graphics chip o
Edit. My first OS was Windows 95, So I suppose you could say I skipped everything before that
I got you beat there. So over the last month I have tried Windows 11 about 5 times. Each time I tried it for a few days. My computer is less then a year old and meets all the requirements to run 11. However, it's just not ready for me to use as a daily driver. Here's why: * System colors. The taskbar is set in 11 to be all black. Yet it never shows up as a true black like in 10, it's always just one or two shades lighter. Using the latest video drivers from Intel for my Intel 610 integrated graphics car

I don't like Windows 11. It does not play nicely with my onboard video card. All the icons in the taskbar are blurry and almost look like 8 bit graphics. Looks like HP will not be offering a driver update for my machine despite the machine only being 7 months old. That all being said, I prefer the default look and feel of Windows, so I don't know if I would use Start 11. I probably will if I ever get a new computer with Windows 11 as the default Start menu in 11 is almost useless.

I downloaded Windows 11. Installed it. Found out it hates my onboard video card. All the app icons in the taskbar are grainy and blurry and the system does not show a true black anywhere. HP isn't releasing a video driver for my 6 month old machine for Windows 11 so I went back to Windows 10. Besides, the setting app is a nightmare compared to Windows 10.

This has been driving me nuts. On my main computer I run the latest version of Windows 10. I run a solid black taskbar. No transparency. The taskbar is a good solid true black color with crisp, detailed icons. On the test computer running Windows 11 I use the same settings. Call me crazy, but on 11 the black is not as black as it should be and the icons are not as crisp and detailed. Both machines are the same model, so it's not a hardware or software issue. Has anyone else noticed this? Or i
Windows 11 like windows 95,98, Vista, 7, 8.1, and all others is a new operating system, it will only be "updated" when you give Microsoft currency of the variety that people in your country normally conduct business with.
Not true. Windows 11 will be a free update for anyone using Windows 10. Microsoft has already made this clear.

First let me say I KNOW that Windows 11 is in the beta stage. That being said, I'm part of the Windows Insider program. The other day, just to see what the fuss was all about, I installed 11. Other then the fact that is boots faster on my system then 10, I really don't like it. What was the point in moving the icons to the center of the taskbar? Highly annoying. Good thing I was able to move them back to where they belong along the left edge. And the Start menu is a mess. All it is is a place
