I'm not trying to derail the thread, but not all MMORPG's are "grind-fest, cookie-cutter train-rides". There are a few diamonds in the rough. I can recommend Darkfall Online (although not as amazing as it was at launch, great pvp), Shadowbane (amazing gvg), and Ultima Online (wonderful rp'ing). A buddy of mine who "specializes" in MMO's swears by Asheron's Call as well; although now it's quite dated.

Pandora has a pretty cool system where citizens automatically migrate based on cities' "unrest", so you can control population distribution by fine-tuning each city's attractiveness, via different buildings. Just food for thought.

Great post tjashen. I agree Miyazaki's work is top notch. Squaresoft, Aardman, and Ralph Bakshi definitely deserve mention as well. Our tastes are quite similar.

overall id say 2 is a few tenths of a point better than reincarnation - theyre really pretty neck and neck. i like the manual rod planting in 2 and thieves are more useful / fun; but the tactical battle system in reincarnation is definitely a step up. plus it's perty. i will probably end up playing 2 more solo, and reincarnation more mp.

1. strategic spells - more weather control plz 2. exploring the world - discovering treasure(s) 3. changing the geography of the map over time and developing it to my liking - "terraforming" / cities, outposts, roads.. additionally: i wish there was a real reason to manually layout my cities - some fun meta-game
