Oh, and am I looking at the wrong site? (www.guiolympics.com) 'cos it's taken me back in time to 2002... (confused old fart...)

Hey - shouldn't there be a link to the GUI olymp website on the WC home page? Or is there one which I can't see?
I think it's time to set discussion like this to one side. Let's just try and enjoy the competition. To those who are entering - good luck To those watching - enjoy the show (To everyone else - bugger off.) (just kidding! heh.)
My interpretation is... poweruser skin = a skin with as meany features available as possible (e.g. smart buttons, compound skin, plug ins, different colours, toolbar icons, widgets galore, animated buttons) minimalist skin = as much a design statement as anything - unobtrusive, un-fussy, no fancy extra bits, pared down to the essentials. (I don't think that 'power user' refers to the 'user' really. - it's more about the skin. 'Power Skin' would be closer to it.)
I agree with davad70 - these are good guys who have made plenty of free stuff in the past and invested hours of work into their designs. I've sold a few skins myself, and for the customer it's their choice of whether or not to pay extra to get a 'complete' desktop with the wallpaper and icons. (Interestingly, of the $5 paid for the skin pack, I know that 25% of that is lost in the costs of handing the e-sales alone! Skinners are not about to become millionaires...)
I'm just at the point of needing to grow my hair longer, so I can comb it back up over my head and cover the thin spot. (I use lard to paste it down on windy days...)
Just noticed that I've cracked my million downloads. Thank you. Watch out for a new $5 3-skin WindowBlinds pack which is nearly ready, plus two skins in the GUI Olympics! (Don't I get a tiepin or badge or something?)
( Ooof. Grayhaze has seen the announcement... Essorant puts his copy of Photoshop back in it's box, turns and walks away, shoulders drooping... )
This gets harder each time... I need to meditate. (And find out what 'Smart buttons' do. And figure out animations. And learn how to be artistic so that I can make some icons... the list goes on. I feel so inadequate.)
anyone done a tutorial? (mr lazy here...)
Sounds like Windows Media Player Zippo skin that's the problem rather than the WindowBlinds stuff. Does the WMP skin have animations? I know that WMP can have scripts running to do lots of clever stuff (which is on a per-skin basis - different skin, different scripts).
Ooh... count me in. (and hello Treetog...) To avoid possible 'skinner spotting' influencing people's voting (or judge's voting - not sure if there is to be a "people's choice"), would there be a way in which skins could be submitted anonymously? Then the skinner revealed after the marking? The other thing is, everyone has their own strengths. I can see how well I would do in the icon category!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/surprised.gif" border=0
Finally, after a totally clean install of ObjectDock, the menu function finally works right! Which menu function? I've been using kkmenu, but it just isn't fast enough for me. Can OD now treat folders as menus/submenus all on it's own?
PAINT??? That's dedication...
Thanks fellas.
I expect this will have been asked before, but I wasn't paying attention... The new skin format allows you to add custom animations. What software do you use to create/edit them?
Nice to see you Jorge!
Very nicely done Paul. Professional quality.
Hey, thanks for the link! (And amongst such good company.)
Vanilla - You can see a full size preview of each skin if you follow the link to the website. They are 'big-ass' there.
darn - I didn't mean that to be shown as a link on my previous post! Sorreee!
(The link to the reg key starts https://secure.bmtmicro.com/..... )
Indeed they are correct Mark. Although my site isn't secure, the reg key is paid for on the BMT site's secure server. Hope that doesn't put you off.
Although I intended this to be ready for release when the essorant.com website opened a week ago, due to the fact that I was just too busy to complete them, the site opened with the Tranche9b suite. Fortunately, I've finished them now, and you can take a look at the link below. Each sk
Thanks for all that info IPlural. Unfortunately I can't tell you much about the firewall - I'm on a corporate LAN and the firewall isn't anything I can see or touch. A list of ports might help, but I expect they will be monitored anyway. I can certainly give it a try. (Glad you like the site!)
