RPG, it sounds like your missing file icons are 'file specific' right? So which ones are missing?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wait a minute. RPG...are you creating your own saved files in icon packager? Have you tried going into icon packager and reverting some files to their defaults?
Hmmm. Did you accidentally add your address or links etc. to your quicklaunch bar? This kind of stuff drives me nuts.
Right click on your desktop...hit "arrange icons by" and make sure there is a 'check' by "show desktop icons"
