...- MMOs were around, and financially successful, prior to WoW...
Correct, however no game prior to World of Warcraft generateed some US$4,000,000,000.00 in subscription revenue, that's excluding retail sales I might add, or become a cultural phenomenon. World of Warcraft showed how incredibly viable a subscription-based model for games actually is and changed the way Publishers viewed their games. A con

After looking at all the info flooding around regarding the 3DS, it's literally the most impressive console I've ever seen. If Nintendo can secure half of the titles hinted at for launch in 2011, they'll have one of the greatest launch line ups of all time. It's strange when a new Handheld is vastly more impressive than the major consoles, and packs games that look to be a lot more fun! Mario Kart 3DS? Sign me the hell up!

Really, just because they have built-in tutorials (advisors) that can be turned off for the more advanced players that don't require that sort of hand holding? That's a red flag?...
The advisors themselves aren't a Red Flag, and neither are the i

In an early preview I read that the developers were using the console based Civilization: Revolutions as their inspiration for the latest numbered instalment. While the art style was much more defined on the console version, it was an extremely lacking version of the game - the DS version being the closest to matching the PC in terms of gameplay. If they're starting with Civilisation IV and adding Civilization: Revolutions to the mix to produce Civilization V, I weep for the serie

Fallout: New Vegas has easily the most disgusting set up since Dragon Age: each seller gets their 'Special Kit' which is supposed to appeal to a certain type of player. One for Melee Focused, etc.

Well, I've managed to watch them all now. Holy crap, Nintendo is back in a big way. I'm almost tempted to pick up a Wii now, though I'll still probably not, however they've sold me on the 3DS completely. The line up of Third Party Support is massive and from the general impressions I've read it sounds like Nintendo have freaking nailed the 3D and use it to create a truley unique and immersive experience that their competitors will, once again, be left scramblin

From my point of view, there is nothing that "pops," nothing thus far that distinguishes game play from something I haven't already done or seen in other products. I know this is culled; I know this is a beta; yet we have some core game mechanics that just aren't "fun." Not to be rude, as you made quite a point about not trolling and so I don't wish to troll your post, however Brad has also made quite a point of detailing just how "un-fun" the beta is supposed to be.

Personally, I found Microsoft's conference to be totally underwhelming in every respect. No reveals, no major announcements, and nearly everything shown that wasn't related to Kinect had been known prior to the show. I understand that they wanted to give Kinect the spotlight, but the stuff with Kinect, apart from the Dashboard stuff, just looks like controller free versions of Wii titles or games released years ago. Not a single title announced lived up to the poten

In my opinion, the City building aspect need significantly more thought behind it. I tend to agree; I usually end up with a couple of powerful NPCs and my Sov, and then any NPCs I encounter I kill because leveling them up is simply not practical. Inns having repetable quests (kill quests, escort quests, etc.) from the numerous Inns would work well (and remove the need for a million Inns in the world) as well as the aforementioned Den idea from Fall From Heaven would work pretty well in terms of allowing NPCs to be leveled up. It be best for balance to have
