Strategy! Let the AI send convoys to your planets. He uses money and fleet for it, thus weakening himself. You get the production bonus, it's a win-win situation ^^ Pirates? You can do 2 things with pirates. Buy a mission from them, and put bounty on other peeps in order to get pirates to attack them. You can buy pirate missions and send them on an player you got peace with, btw ^^ So if player A gets the bounty pirates on them, you could buy some more pirate

[quote who="Kajinking" reply="5" id="2524185"]How about you use the envoy like a starbase builder and have them deploy into embassies around planets? Change the Envoy so that it boosts relations only a little (just enough to get a cease fire when combied with the usual research and bribery). When you don't have to worry about the other faction blowing it up have the envoy deploy into a embassy which would increase relations even futher allowing for some of the more ad

[quote who="Kajinking" reply="1" id="2524153"]I have to agree with you on most of these points. I haven't played that many games since I prefer large drawn out battles but I've also encounted alot of these bugs myself. I offer or get offered a pact and they instantly accept then reject it, I've NEVER been asked to do a mission (making the advent and TEC related research usless), and the AI spams Envoy cruisers early in the game and tries to befirend everyone before I've even gotten out my 2nd

Uhm, I can't see how that should be balanced out, but anyhow, sound idea. But then Pirates needs some caps, ability to take over planet (Ransome, anyone?). And the people could be cyborgs ^^

Yes, and if you hadn't had that massive amount of metal, you wouldn't have been able to spam pirates. But as you said, you had alot of metal lying around, begging to be sold to the black marked thingie. So basicaly, you had allready won.

[quote who="javajeff" reply="47" id="2517676"] The game is currently in beta. If I am correct, the developers have newer releases than what we are currently playing. Anyone judging the AI and Diplomatic options should wait until the final release to judge it. [quote who="MRDred" reply="37" id="2515003"] Multiple ways of generating respect. If you do not like missions or bribing you can send envoys now. It might seem easy to send a ship over and get respect but... the enemy can do the same. Also those ships can be targeted. The pirate negotiations also have improved giving more tactical options. You get lots of treaties to make use of your respect. You can now OFFER missions (a player should ALWAYS be able to have the same options

Sounds like you're having a fun game. I can barely make a cap ship without being jumped by fuzzy pink bunnies, all desperate to be my best friend. But yes. Spam some "Give metal" (I'm Vasari, though, gets a bonus there). Try to get trade deal and peace fire After that, enjoy the fuzzy pink bunnies.

"Beta testers, how does the AI's diplomacy compare to other rts/tbs you know?" I sincerely expected more. All I see is that they've added another not-so-usefull-because-you-get-them-too-late-to-make-any-big-difference thingie to the diplomacy tree. Great, where's the diplomacy, though? Definition of Diplomacy: "Diplomacy is the art and practice of conducting ne

I've had the same thing happening to me several times on SP. It seems like the AI can't handle missions at the start of the game, almost like he has to research the ability to recive it first.

One thing I would have liked to see in Soase: Diplomacy, was more action on the political scene. I'm thinking about the political system in The Guild 1-2 etc. In The Guild 2 (That's the one I've played the most, anyhow), one can apply for political positions in the town where you live. You start with applying for the lower positions, head master, executioner, moving upwards to guild master, task master, mayor etc etc (I do not remember the rank names 100

Me and an friend played online against 2 hard AI's. When the battle was over and the screen came up (where one can look at stats), we noticed that he (the other player, advent) Had an user action of over 10 million. This game lasted 4.27 hours, meaning that he generated over 6000 user actions per second... I had a little over 6700 during the same game. Game numor duo: playing against 2 AI on cruel, one of the AI's had an user action over 20 millions, while I had 800.000 (Nu

Entrenchment has quick start. You start with 2 scouts. Facilities on the metal/crystal nodes and the cap factory. I usually only play Vasari, sp here's what I do. First thing I like to do, is to build the cap ship, send out your scouts then place out the military/civil lab, depending if you're going mil/eco, big map, little map. I prefer atleast 1 military lab, get my assailents out and tell them to join my egg. and try to take over and fortify chokepoints. <

T[quote who="Cykur" reply="8" id="2215985"] You can get the same effect with about 7 shots I think. Bit off topic. I once built a group of scouts, and sent them to an enemy planet. Once my scouts arrived, I fired a total of 68 Kostura cannons on that planet. This was against an advent AI set on unfair btw, and he had mustered an large army there. Back to the planet. Everything died, except the starbase. I think it had about 40% shields left and 100% hull.
