Subverter is AOE but it is a small radius of effect. There is still some micro to be done to neutralize a majority of a fleet unless they are trying to battleball it up really tightly. A good advent player can still thwart it but subverters can be rough. [_]-Greyfox

You should not jump the gun and go civ until you know where the nearest enemy is and estimate by the look of your enemy whether they will be attacking soon. Building a harmony before you even leave the grav well with scouts is a bad idea. For all you know your enemy could be connected to you homeworld to homeworld or only a roid away. In these cases it is likely a better idea to build a 2nd factory on your hw or build military labs. If your enemy is far enough away tha
To clarify, I also vote nay on any navigator buff and yay on a seeker dps nerf. [_]-Greyfox
My opinion is well known. I will not repeat it again. There is no need for a fifth thread on this when others do just as well. I could make a new thread every day on this but it doesn't change what is said in those threads. Some agree and some disagree. Post your opinions on darvin's thread and be done with it. Only time will tell just how the cookie crumbles. [_]-Greyfox

There will be a point when enough is enough and nothing more will be done. That point will likely be after diplomacy comes out and there is no more money to be made off the product. Balance tweaking is not going to be a forever thing. They currently have incentive to change things still. That kept in mind there is no pleasing everyone. There is always going to be someone bemoaning the state of the game. The strive for perfection is fine and dandy but no one
A rose by any other name......still smells like spam to me. [_]-Greyfox
It would be nice if people would refuse to spam that stuff or anything in general but I am somewhat doubtful that will occur in this case. Even when there are out and out exploits(for example the old neutral scuttling trick that many exploited) that one could use it is difficult to stamp out completely. For many people the ends justifies the means and they will cheat, borrow or steal to attain those ends. As far as this goes, not everyone agrees it is a bad thing.
As to scouts, I say DPS nerf all around although navigator does not as much need it. I believe in general they should keep their health for what should be their main function(scouting to those that didn't know) but the seeker in particular could use a hp nerf if the dps is not decreased. I would not be in favor of a navigator dps or supply buff. Navigators are useful enough as is with neutrals. The cost and supply does not need changed. DPS decrease is needed rat

But the fact that he was willing to come to the forum lines and ask for help, and actually listened and applied said advice should give him the respect of the right to be listened to even though his level of experience i

IMO the scout/lf ships are intended so that a player can go eco early and not pay the price. Pushing back a scout/lf spammer is not hard. If he's not investing in upgrades or other ship type expansions to his fleet, he's easy pickins. Ok, let me give another example of a two ship fleet that is hard to counter. HC's and Fighters. The only hard cou
Wingflier, what has made you an instant expert here? On the first of this month you were admitting that you had played your first entrenchment game and made several posts asking how to counter things and now you are here talking like you know everything there is to know about counters and what is OP or not. It is not the scouts alone that is the problem. The problem is LF and scouts together spammed without the need for any labs or research. I will respect raging amish
[quote who="Wingflier" reply="35" id="2440091"] Quoting Greyfox2, reply 32 Quoting Wingflier, reply 27I HIGHLY disagree with OP. If you nerf scouts against LRFs, the only counter you have then are Fighters (they are the only other class that hurts light armor). HOWEVER, fighters are extremely easy to counter, with a host of capital ship abilities that rip them to shread (flak burst and telekinetic push come to mind) and just massing flak
This is already being discussed on 2 other threads. Why are you starting a third? First of all, the problem is not necessarily with scouts but their combination of scouts and LF which negate most of their early counters. It is a no lab thing to do. All you have to do is put up more frigate factories and sell crystal to do it. LF kill the flak and carrier counters to scouts and scouts kill the LRF counter to the LF. It leaves you with little option other tha

I agree completely and have been fairly vocal about it. Vasari have it particularly rough in this setting considering their scouts and LF suck comparatively combat wise. A scout nerf against LRF particularly the advent scout would do nicely. Building labs when your enemy is doing this is a liability because you will be behind spam wise. [_]-Greyfox

I have also made comments as to scout/LF rush being a problem. It got JJ to switch to advent after all and he was pretty diehard vasari previously. I have always been a proponent of scouts only being used to scout and minesweep and not as a counter to lrf. There are plenty of counters to lrf already so scouts are inappropriate for this purpose. Decreasing the utility of the scout to lrf would eliminate the problem of scout/LF spam that is seen now(particularly from adv

I don't do just illums with carriers. What I do is largely dependant on what my enemy is doing. If my enemy builds a SB then I dont build much illums at all unless I am gonna get a huge ball of them to take it down but instead I build carriers. If my enemy is building lrf, then I will build illums and maybe carriers but maybe flak or a few guardians.
