What do you think a player who is left alone against 5 other players, who own 75% of the map (enemy ai mop up in progress), can do? Other than waste their time by going afk or something?
Use their Level 10 Vorastra to eat subcapitals while their carrier+capital fleet runs around until it needs to bomb something :p

In addition, all these traits boost the XP given by the spell Paragon (the base amount given is always the amount that would boost the target Champion from the start of their current level to the start of their next level).
What the post as a whole was meant to point out, is that there is no reason the entire game should be changed just because the MP community is obsessed with grabbing hold of an aspect of the game and exploiting it to the point that they break it.
If, as you contend, the ability is only ridiculous when MP players "grab hold of it and exploit it", then that offers a very simple avenue of fixing it: identify what dedicated MP pl

Especially after all the anti stardock/ironclad comments that showed up on my nearly identical, but shorter, thread. People will never be satisfied with the game no matter what changes are made. I wouldn't blame the devs if they just said "screw you guys, we're n

Just yesterday, I was playing a 5v5, and early on, I looked to see where my teammates were, and seeing that I have vision of players on both sides, went eco. Get up culture and trade ports, position my fleet to expand, then a while later, look again and realize the player on my right had only been visible due to seeker vision. My tradeports didn't do much against his corvettes and lrf... So, anyone else here have amusing mistakes they've made?
The biggest problem I see with this is that it just encourages Vasari to spam Kostura more against advent players because it will disable the culture centers anyway.
Guess you could still wail an adjacent asteroid to buy time to wail the major planet once the Kostura disable wears off. Anyway, it seems like making the Kostura more expensive and/or harder to build might be the answer to that kind of pro

Okay, so here's my Wail solution. Instead of the current effect, a Wail serves to block enemy phase jumping to both the target planet and to adjacent planets in friendly culture. Enemy ships cannot phase jump to affected planets, and those in phase space are frozen in place until the duration ends. The duration is 2 seconds per population point lost (so 50 population = 100 second delay, 150 pop = 5 minute delay, etc.). To me, it seems like the solution still give

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting removing the eliminated movement penalty - just changing the way this trait affects monsters. It seems pretty generally agreed that monsters aren't aggressive enough - and this trait contributes to this effect by making monsters do nothing to impede your expansion (except for the wandering monsters that seem unaffected - not sure if this is a bug). Anyway, to force all players to actually have to defend their land, it seems a needed

Well that and there was no cap on superweapons, so you could just build 12 kostura and wipe out fleets. What's funny is that with the Kostura, you would see it coming and you could run. Wail doesn't give you an opportunity to run. Maybe that

I'm getting the impression Brad was genuinely unaware that his behavior could really mess up some people's day. It's easy to be unaware of how your actions look to people with a different perspective, particularly when you have a circle of friends who have no problem with it. That doesn't justify her response, but it does serve as a reminder that maintaining an overall positive working environment means you can't just focus on the attitudes of your close friend

This beta removed the tech requirements for quests, but the Arena of the Slakhanan didn't get the message. It says you need Breon's Letters to enter, but won't let you use it (even if you do research Breon's Letters). Just something to fix in the next update. Also FYI, this is a game that started in original Beta 4, but was updated to .951 then .952. EDIT: This bug also is present for a new game (and the gates for the Master Quest endspot also seem to

Not really experience with VL myself, but from what I've seen, a greater emphasis on carriers might also be desirable - your post mentioned difficulty taking on enemy Titans - and bombers with Phase Missiles are definitely the best answer to that issue. I've seen players going up to 40+ bomber squadrons.

It feels a little restrictive to always have to equip champions via the store, and it's quite frustration to have 10+ horses stored but your champions are stuck on foot due to lack of gold. So here's my solution. Create a new unit type (like how henchmen are a different unit type). Call this type "Equipment". In the unit design screen, you select armor, weapons, and support items (like mounts or rings), but cannot select Traits. Once you save an Equipme

Another thought on random events - If you make a big negative event when the player is winning, have the initial event just be an announcement - then have the actual negative consequences be staggered after the announcement. This gives a player the chance to respond, rather than getting immediately punished by something they couldn't have reasonably anticipated.

Hmm... that seemed like some pretty jerk behavior on the part of kbroke and CptObv to drag out the game as long as they did - they best they could hope for is for other players to drop due to time constraints or minidumps, which doesn't seem like an honorable way to win. The Ragnarov getaway at the end was epic though. On a different subject - why don't I ever see anyone else putting up trade SBs in neuts to extend their trade lanes? Seems like a lot of lost potent

With regards to random events that trigger when they player is dominating - it seems like the wrong approach to simply punish the player for doing well (maybe I'm reading too much into the OP, but these are my thoughts anyway). Perhaps a good compromise would be to spawn something that is a dangerous threat, but which helps end the game faster if you surmount it (access to a powerful spell, a powerful item, a powerful hero who assisted you in defeating the threat, etc.)

You have to dispel it (open the Govern panel by clicking on a resource in the top pane, then click on Enchantments and dispel it in the list), then recast it, in order to get the benefit of life shards gained after the original casting. Personally, I think these buffs should update automatically - it would be much less confusing.

Feels like Orkulus Rex got off a little too easy - the Empire Tree requirements just mean VR will be using econ techs to better churn out maintenance-free battlestations, and a modest 25% damage debuff for 60 seconds just means it'll hesitate to jump into a large enemy fleet with no support - hitting mid-size fleets and lightly defended planets seems just as viable as before. Not that the basic idea is bad - a 50% damage debuff for 120 seconds would mean you'd actually have

I was playing through 0.95 yesterday and it went fairly smoothly, but upon loading my most recent save, I discovered that any attempt to make a new save always caused a crash. Strangely, the somewhat earlier saves also caused crashes, though very early saves did not. Here are two of the crash-inducing saves: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73603960/S12.EleSav <a href="https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73603960/S13.EleSav

My formula is simple - for every 10 xp it has, the time to rebuild a titan goes up by 1 second. Does it have 600 xp? Takes 1 more minute to rebuild. Does it have 12,000 xp? Takes 20 more minutes to rebuild. Seems this option gives a player with a high level titan the chance to remain a factor, particularly with the support of other players, while still giving the player who sacrificed a significant chunk of their fleet to kill it a reasonable amo
