Just had a different idea on how to buff Gauss rail gun: Make it a passive boost to the Kol's forward firepower. Many people have complained about how the Kol's forward damage sucks - here's a way to make it rock instead, without draining antimatter that could be used for Flak Bursts or Adaptive Forcefields. A side effect is that Adaptive Forcefield wouldn't need to become passive, and could continue to provide the bonuses it now does.
I do think TEC 3 plays in game. They did it b/c I assume they didnt have the time or money to make a new opening theme like they did for Entrechement. So they reused one from ingame.
Entrenchment did not have a new theme either - they used Battle 10 for that. Honestly, one of the few things I found disappointing in the expansions was the lack of new music.
Any thoughts on giving Vasari caps more HP/Shields to compensate for their inferior frigs?
Just an interesting thought about capital ships - since the Vasari frigates are definitively inferior to their TEC and Advent counterparts (at least until Optimized Construction and RA come into play in the late game), and Vasari capital ships are clearly very important (just look at the crew sizes for Vasari caps vs. crew sizes for Advent & TEC caps), wouldn't it be a good balancing measure to give a HP/Shields increase exclusively to Vasari capital ships, to counterbalance their weaker
UPS is fine. But they made a big thing about boycotting Fox News (not a particular program but all of it). When it backfired, they recanted and said "Oh no, we're not boycotting anything..." So I made a comment on Facebook that it annoyed me that UPS was using their business as a political tool. This got reported in the media as me supporting "Glenn Beck" (who I've never watched before) which in turn got a bunch of people really ticked off that I was getting politi
I'd say Civilization IV seemed to have the best AI I've seen, with the expansions, it can actually put up a decent fight without extra resources. It still can't really exploit any weak spots you leave, and has problems with keeping more units than necessary on defense (many of them unupgraded from their original type), but at least it could produce a competitive empire without needing a massive handicap.
and I'm also slightly sad at no 3rd micro expansion for Sins..
Considering that we were promised there would be a campaign, I'd be really disappointed if that never got done. The Sins lore is really interesting, and it would be such a shame to see it go to waste.
Good Idea: Buying an energy-efficient home.
Bad Idea: Having a week's vacation in Iran.
Vasari get a few more options strikecraft wise. Between the Skirantra's repair cloud, tougher strike craft, and phase missiles, they could deploy their strikecraft in waves to exhaust the Advent's tk pushes, keep the damaged ones back, and use the rest to attack the guardians. They only do 50% damage, but Guardians don't have much in the way of hull points, so phase missiles from the strike craft would do a lot of damage.
For guardians, I favor increasing AM cost, for Missile Barrage, I favor both reducing the AoE and increasing the range of Interrupting abilities, and for Carriers, I favor eliminating the movement penalty. Everyone should agree that a good RTS should avoid encouraging the spam of a single unit or ability, and all the above changes would help ensure that many strategies remain viable.
Star Trek has transporters, Star Trek also has transporter inhibitors. Counters to technology are generally very quick to follow the discovery of a given technology. They can rapidly beam their own personel around without effort because the communicators are also homing devices. To beam out someone not wearing one, they have to find them using the internal ship sensors. To beam someone out that has a transport inhibitor, they have to tag them.</
Boarding parties. They wouldn't need to worry about holes in the ship too much. Force fields would pop up any time they managed to make one, and the outer hull is not something so easy to blow through that an AP weapon would do it from inside. They wouldn't need to worry about getting there in the first place either, so the lack of a problem isn't really much help. Star Trek shields also block physical objects, you have to match their frequency, which is
For all the debate about ship to ship combat, if Star Trek marines can't repel boarding actions, then the entire issue is irrelevant. Considering that their usual counter to a boarding action is a bunch of men in latex suits carrying pistols, they don't seem to have a counter for Master Chief or a squad of Elites attacking with grenades and rocket launchers. Considering the Federation's general lack of anti boarding defenses, is there really anything they could do to prevent Maste
I call this ship the Magnetron, it has the the ability to control electromagnetic fields in a roughly 500 m radius around it. So it can do things like deflect projectiles, bend light, create laser beams in any direction, smash starship hulls, interfere with electronics, and make dimensional jumps. It's only the size of a l
Thanks, that worked. Wish I knew what was going on though.
Since this game has been patched several time since release, I can't play until Impulse updates it. However, Impulse seems unable to install its own latest update, and has been stuck at "Downloading Impulse update - Retrying" for nearly ten minutes. What's going on, and how can I fix it? I'm running 64-bit Windows Vista. Thanks!
Double post, delete.

I eventually just gave up on updating my original file, so I made a new one with Galaxy Forge 3, and copied the file into my Galaxy folder, but it isn't showing up in Entrenchement! Any idea how to fix this?
& The map updater still isn't working, so I tried manually updating the file. Now I get an error in Galaxy Forge 3 when I try to load it. I'm wondering if anyone can see where the problem is in the file (sorry for the wall of code)
TXT versionNumber 3 isBrowsable TRUE browsePictureName "" browseName "" browseDescription "TODO - Add Description Here." isFirstCapitalShipIsFlagship TRUE
Is there any way to convert maps made with Galaxy Forge 1.1 to Galaxy Forge 3? I've spent some time making custom maps in the earlier verson, and wouldn't like to lose the work. EDIT2: I tried the map updater, and it isn't working. One of the maps I tried to update loads in Galaxy Forge 3, but gives an error when you try to save it, and does not show up in Entrenchment. Another map does not load in Galaxy Forge 3 at all, and also does not show up
Thanks a lot for the information, but I still have some questions. First, are the points given from income determined before or after expenses (such as ship maintainance, etc.)? Also, do you recieve points for techs and money acquired through diplomacy?
