I will attempt to illustrate my truth here by agreement. You are correct – randomization and chance have no place in a competitive play game like Demigod. [...Item CHANCE Ability...] Hmmm... looks like random chance *already* plays a huge role in this tight competitive play game. I estimate that about 40% + Items feature some randomized trait. I think I have an inexorable point of logic her

Firstly, I apologize for this post's epic quote fail. I can't seem to get fixed. The quote end tags
aren't working for some reason. As you can see, I had to improvise to retain some level of respectability :). Quoting Aspartem: But add additional achievement items to it would bring to much "out-of-game" resources into the a battle. A player who plays the game since 2 years already got a huge bonus agains
I made a post about luck somewhere around these forums quite a while ago. The jist of the argument was that some luck in a game is OK, but you need to make sure that game doesn't go too far into the realm of luck. I cited examples like how the competetive community banned OHKO attacks in Pokemon (imo, the best example in this instance). I also used the phrase, "50% chance of a win button" several times as something that needs to be avoided. This suggestion is quite l
I doubt it would be unlocked as you progress through Single Player. From what I've heard, SP is essentially a tournament a la fighting games. The only real difference between SP games and MP games is that everyone is an AI and you get a neat cutscene when you beat it with a specific Demigod. However, I do believe that these would be cool additions to the game. Perhaps instead of SP milestones they could be tied to Favor. As has been addressed several times, you
I've noticed this and its quite annoying. As Post Mortem is UB's primary anti-creep ability (Ooze might work, but I don't like that skill's suicidal tendancy), I've always found that upgrading to Plague is counterproductive. Frankly, I would rather have Post Mortem than Plague, so why should I bother putting skill points into an ability that essentially removes Post Mortem? Plague greatly weakens UB's combat effectiveness due to this bug. Please fix it.
I agree. There should be an option to use the best AI without giving it cheats. There is clearly a difference between Normal and Nightmare behavior beyond the cheats. I would like to be able to combat Nightmares on an equal playing field.
Is it so hard to make a thread supporting all the work the devs have done for these past months (and before that)? Does everything really have to come down to Demigod vs. DotA? Most of the threads around here are bashing Demigod in some way. Lists of ways to improve things or unnecessary rants from DotA "fanboi"'s litter this place. I support this thread. Demigod is shaping up to be an excellent game. I won't lie and say its perfect, but I trust Stardock

It would perhaps be better phrased that the AI is "too dumb". However, for the reasons you l
I agree with a lot of what you said 95-100%. The only stuff I'm mentioning are things that I feel like I need to add to. There's a few other things, but they're really minor and it's probably a matter of personal preference anyway. For example, I don't see the need to introduce level 12 skills. There's also a lot of stuff I just have no real opinion on as I haven't experimented with it and/or seen it used in game much. There are some things that do stand out.&n
Did you just create an anti-synergy for the Beast? Even disregarding how much that concept irks me, your Bestial Wrath would be fairly worthless in a team match. Various debuffs, even subtle ones, are thrown all over the place. Some demigods have passive debuff auras that you can't stop and about half the active skills in the game have some kind of associated debuff. For your intended effect (which I still find quite irksome), you should limit it to ONLY the Diseased C
Fair enough. Although, I am curious as to why you think customizable stats would be bad in the long run. How exactly do you imagine they would ultimately screw up the game?
The obvious problem with TF2 is that the unlocks were the only other option. Your weapons were either normal or they were unlocked. There weren't multiple normal items to choose from in an effort to counter other strategies. In Demigod, there would be a plethora of items to choose from outside of Achievement Items.
Having to spend more points on higher levels of stats is a good idea. Oh wait, I said that...
Levels 1-2: 1 Point Levels 3-4: 2 Points Levels 5-6: 3 Points Levels 7-8: 4 Points Levels 9-10: 5 Points Level 15: 6 Points
And you keep insisting that the stat points are fluff. Just based on stat points alone (no items) you could compleatly change yo
No, it originated on Achievement Items becoming available from achieving achievements instead of earning Favor. They are not more expensive, they are just unlocked differently. They were not more powerful, they were just more specific. Instead of getting random stat bonuses, you would get a specific boost to a specific spell or an extremely weak universal boost to several key stats. At no point were uber items suggested. At no point was it suggested that they
Yes, but you would lose to an equally skilled player who did have a favor item. In competative play it's not as much about what bracket you are in but where in that bracket you stand. If I'm a division B players (ie: I kind of suck) and I'm playing against other similarly skilled players it sucks if I lose because they had some non-skill advantage over me. I don't expect unlocks to make me a division A player but it levels the
But.. do we have a lack of choice now? If we do, it's the fault of items and skills, not lack of stats. :/ I guess I just don't see how this will improve the game more than improved items and improved skills will.
I agree with you. Having 30 perfectly balanced Demigods with 20 perfectly balanced skills and being able to choose from 500 perfectly balanced items to play on 50 different maps would be
Favor Items are not that powerful and you can only use one at a time. They give a minor advantage to supplement specific builds. They do not carry builds. Even if you spam Achievements/Favor, you can still only use one at a time. Even if one is slightly better than another, it isn't like they stack. You get one, singular boost which is fairly minor. You won't win a game because of that. In that regard, I would say that they are important for ranked
Wait... You're opposed to the system because you have to click too much? Hmmm... Oh wait, I specifically addressed that!
Basically, it would be an Attribute Tree. The format which I have devised this is a direct rip from the current upgrade path mechanic. I believe that it could work better, but I'm keeping with what we have.
I agree that there are better ways to presen
Ok, I tested it. Basically, anything that brings up a casting meter will interrupt Grasp. This includes Venom Spit and Wrath, as well as any items with a cast time. Things with an instant cast, like Ooze and the Wand of Speed, will not interrupt Grasp.
Wrath isn't instant. It is fairly fast, but it isn't instant. Actually, the animation (roaring to the sky) seems to last longer than the cast-o-meter. Another bug? I'm pretty sure Ooze is instant, so you may be confusing the two. Actually, this could be pretty killer. If you can use Wrath to cancel Grasp, then you cancel Wrath, you would be able to punch him in the face while he is stunned. Does this work with other casts? Venom spit is a lot

While you say it'd allow you to customize your demigod more, make it more unique.. It wouldn't. Items do the exact same thing, and only req

The point of restricting an item to a specific Demigod is that it would be compleatly useless to other Demigods. I gave one example in this regard.
For example, the Hammer Slam Achievement Item could reduce Hammer Slam's casting time by 25%.
This would obviously be Rook specific because it only applies to the Rook. Nobody else has the Hammer Slam. This is quite different from Kestrel's example
Innociv, what do you care if some people are going to get the achievements dishonorably? Just load up TF2 and look through the available servers for achievement farming, then play a real game and notice how many people are NOT using the achievement weapons. Sure, maybe a lot of them have the weapons and just choose not to use them. I mean, I'd never touch the Sandman for my life as it removes the Scout's double jump. People use it, but I don't when I play as the Scout.
