CerebroJD, The only issue with the XMLHTTP object from memory is that you need to force the rest of DX to pause while the page loads. This isn't an issue with most modern connections, but as someone who was recently migrated from dial up it was a problem.

Oh Thomassen, I do have some Functions that I have been working on that will remove the need for users to master the XMLDOM model so I will release these some time shortly. These will allow things like GetXMLfromXML, GetTextFromXML, GetAttribute etc etc

Thomassen, XMLDOM is a valid solution, however, for the "average" developer, the XMLHTTP object returns a string that is easy to manipulate using standard VBScript like Left, Right, Len and InStr. From memory use of the XMLDOM object requires far more use of the object model.

DesktopX Developers and users beware - IE7 may well cause some DesktopX widgets to fail because of it's new functionality. That's not to say that all will be affected by this, but many of the widgets relying on RSS feeds for their data may struggle. The issue is that IE7 kindly interprets RSS feeds and displays the data in a more visually friendly format. While this is to be applauded, it does have implications. Where a Deskto

There is no satisfactory way I have found to do this which is a frustration. My understanding is that DX pings microsoft.com when System.InternetConnected is called to assess whether the user is online. This tends to cause the PC to try to connect which I personally do not think is ideal as a solution ... but what do I know! For guidance on creating objects relating to web access check the online resources (<a href="https://www.sta

What must be remembered is that to people outside the skinning world the concepts of widgets and gadgets are unfamiliar. The challenge is in the communication of the benefits. On my site ( Link ) I have rewritten the copy many times and am still not happy with it. From a commercial perspective the key is the hook to get people interested, after which it's a far easier concept to sell.</

I was in London the day before the bombing and if fact on the tube line where 21 people died. It was just a normal day, plenty of commuters and tourists going about their daily business. I suspect yesterday was just the same. The world is becoming a more dangerous place which is why these apparent coincidences of being around terror and danger occur so much. Personally I was in Paris when the underground bombings took place in 1995, in Lond

It's hardly as if the presence of RSS in IE was the key point of the article! The integration of schedules/calendars into Outlook sounds like a more useful concept to me, and accessing RSS via APIs will be very useful INHO

Check out some of my media players. I have them with playlists for WMP and iTunes. Alternatively you can use the DXPlayer plugin which provides all media player functionality including custom playlists.

I noticed the change last night and it is great. However, but it would be great if this were available as a download too. As it stands the DX3 Pro build doesn't have any docs included, which means that help links from the script editor etc don't work.

Just wondering what's on the horizon for DX? I know I've been out of the loop for a bit, but everything seems to have gone really quiet since the release of DX3. Any chance of finding out what's being developed? Any chance that we're doing anything re the following? : 1) Scripting fonts (face, size, bold etc) 2) Font styles - defining styles so these can be quickly applied to objects rather that manually configur
