The TA developers stance is that no new documenation was needed. None describing the plethora of new technologies, none describing the use of the editors, none describing the dozens of new improvements, etc. Luckily, the Galactopedia was updated to TA link="http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?m=775"]WWW Link[/link] and is an extremely helpful collection of data. BTW, yes the asterisks denote race-specific techs but you can use them too if you trade for them.

If you want the ability to custom whatever planets you want without having to put in much work, --- since you have a day job and all :CONGRAT: --- use the map editor and randomize the stuff untill you find whatever setup you like, then ONLY fine tune any PQ you want with the simple clicks of a mouse. It doesn't get any easier than that and your work life will not suffer.
2. I am not aware of a cheat that allows us to give the AI a set amount of cash at the start of the game eit
Add a way for the 20,000bc limit/cap on income (after which penalties to reduce income are applied) to be edited...including a way to simply have no cap if so desired.
another cheat that you can do now
Add an option to set starting cash amounts for the player and AI opponents.
see above ;)
Add options for changing Planet Quality settings when starting a game.
Add a way to adjust the percentage used by the Military/Social/Research sliders. Right now it uses 100% as the default limit but it could be set to a range of 1% to 300% to allow for almost no usage of resources to complete usage at 300%. (Don't overthink the reasons why, it allows for tinkering .
Umm, 100 percent is the maximum. You can have Military be 100 percent now, or social or research. But if any of these is 100 percent, then there is 0 percent left over.
You can't turn them off or delay them without turning off ALL major events. There is a box when you go to start a game that allows you to turn off all major events.
Divine Wrath, are you certain that you filled out the Ship to Address differently than the Cardholder address?I am fairly certain. I keep screen shots and e-mails of my orders. Looking through them shows one screenshot that has a "billing to:" and "shiping to:" part to it. The only differences between them is our first names and e-mail address. As for my e-mail, it states that my brother bought me a gift (TA pre-order with CD).
If the only difference is the first names an
Well, besides those suggestions, do you have "Force AI to use max CPU" on, and do you have a good computer? :NOTSURE: This is an option that improves their play level but does not affect the economy bonuses like the difficulty setting. Also, I have encountered the same circumstances, but it would seem less often. At least in regards to getting a specific ship I gave them to attack a specific target that I placed the ship at before gifting it away. A better AI is always the
...and would get you in debt for the next hundred game years...
No di55, he is specifically referring to certain fleets. Not the entire empire, which on larger maps is of course impractical since - as you point out- upgrading all ships in an empire of that type (an option that is available currently) is nearly always much too costly. If only a certain fleet is targeted, the costs would be much less.
Well, I prefer not using the Ascension Crystals, or the Tech Victory, and usually not the Influence Victory, just so I can stretch the game out. Here's some ideas of how these victories have translated for me in my games: Keep in mind that these typically happen on the harder levels, a little above normal, and ofcourse the easy levels are not represtented here. Ascension Crystals - The AIs will come at you hard and relatively fast in relation to how long it takes to ac
There is always a solution to the random events, but sometimes those solutions could be more costly than the problems. ;p The Unhappiness event, as with many others, are only temporary and can be waited out. :) The events do not reflect what is occuring in your empire at the time of the event; instead, these events undo the balance you have achieved to that point. By this I mean, the unhappiness event does not indicate that what you had been doing to keep your people happy did not
I think what he is referring to is that there is a "Bill to Address" (or a "Cardholder Address") and a "Ship to Address". When these differ, the Ship to Address should be the one to which the product is shipped. So while fraud is definately soemthing to be avoided, why would the "Ship to Address" field even be an option? Divine Wrath, are you certain that you filled out the Ship to Address differently than the Cardholder address? It would appear that the "Ship to Address"
Doesn't the Jagged Knife affect only Evil Civs? I haven't played with Mega Events since my first game.
From what I've experienced, the AI prioritzes defense of their planets over an offensive position. You could try giving multiple ships. Also, I've done the same thing as you insofar as giving AIs ships that I park right next to what I want them to destroy - like resource starbases, transports, etc. If I give an AI two different types of ships then often they will only send one type back to their planet and use the other to attack strategic locations.
I've had the insane rapid flashing mini-map triangle as well and get it on a semi-regular basis. Frozen ship appears in the bottom sqaure in map (another recent post picks up on this and CariElf linked a zip file patch). I have the same issues though I have a new card :NOTSURE: Anyhooo, I also get the invisible ships, ships that don't show up on the map sometimes, or when you select them, they are invisible in the pop-up windows. I'm not good with debuggs or wh
Or to go to a planet with extra population to get more settlers after dropping off settlers on a new planet.Oh yeah forgot about that. In that sense it would be useful. But like its stated above it could be used to colonize planets with zero population. What you could do, to prevent people colonizing planets with zero population, is allow the players to set the bar for population to zero on Transports ONLY. You can't colonize with a transport I think, and you can't conquer a planet with ze
Funny joke, though note certain words have been "altered" due to the swearing that was used when I heard it. Two men are sitting next to one another in an airport both of whom have black eyes. One man asks the other, "How'd you get your black eye?" To which the other man answered, "Ahh, I was at the ticket counter with my wife and was going to ask the ticket lady for two tickets&n
This helped me as a child learning when to use who or whom: (Colon for the list) Who = he/she/they Whom = him/her/them We would not be correct to ask, "Who does this belong to?" (For two reasons actually but no need to delve into prepositional phrases) Because we would not say, "This belongs to he" or "This belongs to she" or "This belongs to they" rather, we would say, "This belongs to him".... So, we should ask, "To whom does
Good points. The biggest problem is, frankly, that it even lets you try to do it. It is rather silly that it allows you to try to do it even though it will never be allowed! The slider does go to 0 currently and that is actually very strange. :NOTSURE: The primary role of the colony ship is to colonize, so the only advantage of flying them out empty is to explore.Or to go to a planet with extra population to get more settlers after drop
The map editor can't zoom out far enough to see the whole map on the largest sizes. It is a bit awkward getting a feel for where things are in relation to the whole map. It would be nice if this could be addressed, simply by zooming out farther perhaps? Or an additional pop-up map like we have near the minimap indicated by the the little triangle when playing the game?
+1 Seems a bit nit-picky at first, but upon reading the whole post, it does make sense. I love the auto-design for war-ships and it would love our constructors/miners/freighters to upgrade as well. :CONGRAT: In fact, it's better to use the auto-design since there is usually much more weaponry and defense compared to the ones we can build. :d
You guys don't see the problem with having a colony with 0 people? It turns out not to be that big of a problem. The planet "population" is the number of citizens, not total number of people. Even starting at zero (using the upgrade technique or a spore ship) the planet will still develop like any other planet.
I know the mechanics actually, I wasnt being clear, sorry. ;p Yes, a colony will grow (albeit at a much reduced rate) with a colony ship that had 0 people. Reall
Thanks Kryo, very nice :CONGRAT:
Well if you just must have a colony ship with no people, which is beyond me btw, then build a constructor, freighter, miner, or whatever and then upgrade to a colony ship design. There will be 0 people on your new colony. I must ask though, the colony ship's sole purpose is to establish a colony. A colony takes people. Why have a colony ship with 0 people? If you want to explore, then create a ship that explores. This is like having a freighter with no goods on it. Or a construct
Full games are completely different. In the campaigns you have a specific goal and nothing else matters, it is a mistake to try and build an empire if playing a campaign. The full game is about an empire. You have to balance research/economy/military and you have to exploit diplomacy/trade/and tactics. There are resources to harvest, anamolies to explore, borders to maintain, people to appease, the list goes on and on. Personally, the full game is where the excitement is, but the ca
You can also rename it from the regular map screen. Just left click a planet, and its name shows up along with its info at the bottom of your screen. To the right of the planets name is a little piece of paper looking icon. Click on that and rename away :CONGRAT:
