hadn't thought of deleting the cap. ship factory. But if you lose you cap ship, then you have to build a new factory to build a cap ship. also, by "first cap ship is free" does that mean the first you buy in chronological order, or if you have no other cap ships then you get a free one (like if you cap ship is destroyed, and you have no others, is the new one free too?)

I am quite sure that it is a PCI-E x 16. As for power, does a standard US wall outlet put out enough power to run the 8800? I would have to look to see if there is space, but thanks for the tip.
I have a Dell XPS 410 desktop computer and want to get a video card so I can get better performance with games (SoaSE, Frontlines Fuel of War). What video cards should I be considering? The Nvidia 8800, 9600, and 9800 lines look good. The Nvidia 260 and 280 look even better but seem to need a PCI-E 2 bus. Any advice or suggestions? I don't want to fiddle with overclocki
Capital ships (as has been already noted) are solely fire-support/standard-support. The idea that you are pitting one capital ship against the other, not as if they were part of an attendant fleet, is mind-boggling. Yes, the Akkan is a reasonable capital ship vs. capital ship combatant, but is useless against carrier spam, LRM spam, or any kind of frigate/cruiser spam in general. The Akkan is a useful support ship, mostly by improving aspects of the attendant fleets and attacking other capital s
is ti out yet? I'm confused... also, how is the gameplay modding going to work? Halo space combat and Sins space combat use entirely different methods of killing: i.e. UNSC ships have nukes, no lasers, point defense (every single one, there is no one "flak frigate"), MAC cannons (again, all have at least one, strength varies per size of ship), and most ships have a complement of fighters, UNSC doesn't use ship shielding, and each ship has limited missiles. In addition, only the covenant
Yeah, I often blow the AI off if they ask for resources. However, I have a weakness. I will cross the entire solar system(s) and lose more than the value of the reward to destroy enemy ships/installations if my planets aren't under siege. I find that I can usually align myself with a research/trade/everything else but offense. Offense (and to a lesser extent, defense) AI will ask for most resources. I usually completely blow off diplomacy.
is this the same thing as salvage?
What is salvage, and how does one use it? I've gotten the impression (from my friends and these forums) that salvage is a way to get rid of ships or buildings that you don't want. can you salvage destroyed enemies? how can salvage be used with RA?
hey thanks for all the help. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my map ;). The map that I made was a snaking map, one long chain of planets and phase lanes, only one way to travel (oh the mind-blowing creativity). I stopped because I was getting that flashing screen, a symptom of not yet having SP1 (there is some SP1 conflict with logitech cameras). However, I was owning. I had a fleet of 40+ including 3 cap ships (I'm Vasari, trying to win without RA). erm...yeah...tangent
2 things: 1) what is salvage, and how does one use it? (i'm sort of a newbie) 2) I find that the TEC, maxed out on refineries and trade ports, can earn enough money to keep up with all research and fleet output. why is your way better? (I actually want to know, again, I am relatively new to the game, and could use some help.) RA done right is very powerful, no question. But it does cost a lot in research stations and phase research. If you don't have any scouts checking for larg
This bug was caused by conflicts with the graphics card. This may have been fixed in the May M$-Tuesday updates, but I haven't been able to check yet.
woops double post
Hmmm...cool idea. TEC is without a doubt a parallel of the UNSC (some of the ships even look the same *cough*). However, I think that the Advent ships look more like the Covenant (ex: both are bulbous). There are Vasari ships that look like covenant ones, but the Covenant ships look (BOCTAOE*) like the Advent, imo. However, one of the problems with this idea is that well over half of all Halo fights have happened on the ground. Since this is a space combat game...yeah...thi

best goes to the Akkan or the Kol. Hands down. worst? probably one of the Vasari ships. I dislike tentacles. is it just me or do the TEC ships look like they came from Halo? and Halcyon, already used by Halo (they may both be ripping off someone else, But I haven't heard of one before the Halo Halcyon Cruiser). I am pretty partial to all things human. alien stuff doesn't feel like ships should, well maybe the advent does (and, for the record, the Advent looks like the Coven
!!!!I am referring to non capital ships!!!! Hmm...I would start with a large ship, and then upgrade whenever possible. I like to have a number of projects going on at once, often including research and new fleets. It's true that the more ships one has, the greater the effect of the research. My thoughts are: get a fleet or four, queue up the equivalent of a fleet to be built, and then get a lot of research done. Other then that, I check every so often to see if I have the credits/resour
I would be very surprised if there is an overpowered faction. SoaSE was delayed SIX MONTHS to work on it, since the developers thought that they needed it. Also, each faction has its own advantage. TEC has economy, Vasari has phase (including phase missiles hehe), and the Advent has culture. if used correctly, culture should make up for the weak T1 and T2 ships and the wait for T3 to make the LRM frigate. The TEC player should invest in trade ports and refineries. If one hasn't unlocked trad
