I've suggested nothing about RA because these suggestions are for an intermediate patch between 1.03 and 1.04 to tide us over and fix the game until 1.04 comes. The intention was stuff that's less than a days work that they could do to easily greatly improve the game.. "Fixing" RA would take a lot of testing and such. I agree that something needs to be doen with RA. Not that RA is necessarily too good or too bad, it's just too.. easy. You get labs, research, make phase ga

yeah no problem. Just a shame everyone doesn't have it on ICO. :(
Well, it's still better than the 'nothing' you'd get otherwise and you'd still have to pay for that research as well.I'm not saying it's a huge savings but it's something you wouldn't be getting otherwise. And just for the sake of clarity, I'm not saying colony frigates are useless either. I'm simply highlighting reasons why people use colony caps.
No it's not better than nothing. Takes a skill slot. Advents is the only one that is great. I'm not saying
a game this good usually would be advertised a little better, I wonder why they decided not to. Advertised..how? 2 page spreads in most game magazines? We do that. In terms of getting editorial preview coverage, that has more to do with the challenge of new titles having a hard time getting such coverage. We've also had ads at Best Buy, with Walmart, and others. If you guys have suggestions on where you hear about games that you'd like us to take out ads in, let u
BAWWWW I'VE GOT BLENDER AND MILKSHAPE AND THEY WON'T OPEN 3ds FORMATED FILES. DEVS SUCK OMG
How come if i play stupidly, shoot my economy in the foot, and waste tons of resources on idiodic things just like the AI does(even the unfair AI) I will lose in multiplayer but people have trouble against these things on singleplayer? It sounds to me some people need to just be playing on easy. This SP needing different balance from multiplayer is a horrible arguement. Even if we had "Unfair AI" in 1.02 with the cheaper siege frigs, i'd still own it. -_- It's NOTHING comp
He talks on irc too :o
Is this a poem or something? Like a really really really crappy poem? I don't get it.
That's exactly what I was suggesting. Having one on high, one medium, one slow. I think that would skew anyone's "balance".That's my point, it's the game-options that allow us to shift the "balance". Whether we are long or short-game gamers, the game-options (more than anything else) are what is balancing or un-balancing (depending on who you ask) the game.the Monk
Yeah well.. this is rather ilrelevant. Most people run all high, or all medium.
I think the speed at which things research, build, move, etc. absolutely impact which units/strategies (by extension race) might perform better or worse on any given map/scenario.
When you have research, gamespeed, ship speed all on high it doesn't change how the game plays any, just maeks it faster. There is only somewhat imbalancing if you say have fast ship speed, build speed, fast resources, but slow research.
Tumbler, it IS realistic, and it is a used strategy to have that many strikecraft. Late game, it's not unfeasible to have 80 Carrier Cruisers, and then you count in strikecraft from capitals. And you can still be packing quite a mix of other ships too. And often, in big games with people who play together, you can have someone go full carrier-cruisers and carriers, with someone else having the full combat ships like HCs and all that.
Who are you playing against that sees that
Vasari's are the best, especially as they have few with high hp(with advents a few die and their DPS is lowered, while with vasari they'd just have one about to die). Also they BOTH use phase missiles, fighters and bombers benefiting from the same upgrade not to mention phase missiles are insane. However, Advent has more support abilities to buff their squadrans and their carriers cost HALF the crystal. This makes Vasari's and Advents even, while tec's I'd rarely ever ever make esp
How does the game balance differ when all options are on high/medium/slow? The fleet one has the most major impact. The others just make the game go quicker/slower, they don't make one unit better or worse compared to the other.
there market works fine in the mods to it i made in https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/304141/page/3 [link="http://rapidshare.com/files/100119774/balance.rar.html"]http://rapidshare.com/files/100119774/balance.rar.html[/link] :p More improvements could be made (like a jumping if someone buys too much at once) but how it is there is fine really. Was just simple mods.
Oh no sorry i was replying to the original poster, not you. Them working fine is why this guy got to post this whine thread.
This doesn't sound to bad. If there was online mod transferring through ICO i'd try it out.
Yeah I'm sure Stardock didn't know about this. And if they did, they are just watching and laughing gleefully at you people not able to whine as often as before from them being intermediately down.
theres been lots of praise threads to them really. :P And I Think Sins is compared to other strategy games, and that's why it has gotten on average a 9/10.
I wondered about how this ability actually works. Can i put 20k bounty on someone, kill all their stuff, and gain 5k?
odd wont let me edit.. Oh and i'm assuming you're laying single player? The AI isn't a challenge at all so pretty much any ships work in single player.
better to justt make some flak to support your hc's. HC's basically kill everything except bombers. (which is why bombers need survivability buffed vs. flaks..) Vasari bombers for example have 140 hp. 3 per squad, IIRC. 4 flaks would in perfect conditions kill 4 vasari bombers in 6.5 seconds.(each of the 4 flak guns would be firing at one, using all their 22dps) What other unit in the game does that? Bombers really should have 50% more hp. Even still flaks ar
I made a mod that balances it out pretty well (not perfectly, but better than 1.03 and 1.02). But uhh.. mods don't work online unless everyone downloads and enables them. This is a multiplayer issue. Imbalance doesn't effect single player as much. And balance for casual and competitive gamers is the same. If it's balanced for competitive players, it's balanced for casual. But if it's only balanced for casual gamers, it's not nessisarily balanced for competitive gamers.(As

siege frigs are already pretty slow. The AM idea isn't a bad one as long as the am regen is fast(like cap ship rate, not colony frig rate). Then you'd probly want to sit your ships out one jump away from their target for a few minutes instead of rally point the target from factory. But siege frigs where fine in 1.02..
wishes for a real SDK...
yeah.. What stopped me from trying to make a bsg mod. :/
