After futzing with Galaxy Forge for a little while I think I actually have a playable [albeit: complex] map. It's designed for 2v2v2v2, but surely people will find a way to have it be anything goes. I haven't played it through all the way to the end, so there could be imbalances, glitches, etc... I would consider this map a work in progress, or a diamond in the rough... Though it is called a Diamond in the Rough for more reasons than one, as you will no doubt see. Updated: Removed a

What's the make/model of the modem?
Make sure it's not a double NAT issue- this is the most overlooked thing in the world... many many many ISPs provide gateway/modem combos- that if not configured correctly will cause double NAT issues. Once you've opened a port on your firewall, verify that it is open by running a port scan on it from the internet. http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner/ Seems to be decent enough, though Im sure you can find better. If you've opened up the port on your firewall/gateway/rou
I would like it to fluctuate as well... I don't think pirates are really known for keeping to a schedule with steadfast dedication.... I'd also like a more comprehensive map editor... I can dream right? :)
Thanks, that was driving me nuts.
What sound card are you using and have you run dxdiag to see if there are any directsound problems?
BFG 8600GTS (1ghz/1.2ghz Core/Mem) E6600 3.6ghz (2.0gb 5-5-5-15 XMS2 Corsair RAM) 1920x1200 All highest, 2 sample aa, bloom etc. etc. Haven't come across any frame stutter yet... I look forward to stressing it a bit more.
What are you connected to the HDTV with... what kind of cable?
I would like slightly larger icons... I have a hard time telling types of ships apart from a glance running at high resolution... Maybe I just haven't played enough :-D
That's the nature of vsync... it sounds like you have it enabled... Vsync forces the video card to output the frames at either 30 or 60 FPS with nothing in between to meet the normal refresh rate of 60hz monitors... If the card encounters something that causes it to dip below 60fps, it drops it to 30fps... This eliminates tearing of the image but causes framerate jitters from time to time.
I don't suppose it's possible to play over other services... Kali for instance? Devs: At least implement a user specified max ping for a game... it is a bit shady that Aus can't play with teh rest of teh world.... Could it be related to those cable outages...? I don't know where Aus gets their backbone lines to the states from... so likely an ignorant question ;)
First: Download and archive the game, make a note of where the archive is. Then: Reboot your computer and right before the fun text comes up saying "loading WinXP" mash the F8 key and boot it into safe mode. Install the archive under safe mode ignoring anything it spouts off at you about how it can't find the network to log you in. Reboot the machine regularly and it should work... I didn't try the XML fix so Im not so sure how that works... though I think it a
From what I understand they created this game to run on a wide spec of hardware... and from what I've heard around these forums leading up to the release date their minimum specs should run the game quite decently...
I am developing an affinity for this game as well, I just have tons and tons and tons of stuff to figure out... excellent job on polishing the game, it looks and runs fantabulously... The only gripe I have is the short tutorial, but as others have mentioned, getting ruined by playing other people/AI is probably the best way to learn.
Try archiving and installing in safe mode... stuck for me and a few others at 7%... also try install on a different HDD and make sure you have adequate free space [and all the other obvious stuff]
How bizarre :-D
SAFE MODE INSTALL FTW!!!
Is it possible that this is a CRC problem?
I have the same problem on my end- everything downloaded fine but it hangs at 7%... have rebooted, will reinstall SD and let you know. Spec: ABit FP-IN9 Core 2 Duo E6600 Corsair XMS DDR2 [2gb] Nvidia 8600GTS SB X-Fi Plat WinXP X64 Pro Also to be noted is that the install won't cancel once it hangs on 7%. Update: Reboot is a fail. Download and archive is a fail. How can I delete downloaded files and just transfer them over again?
No more so than navies passing by one another and waving.
Any hope of modding so they knock each other out of the lane and have to fight for the right to pass? ... any?
I'm worried. I had an old account with star dock with my username i like to use. I purchased SoaSE with a new e-mail and i'm worried about Stardock not letting me download due to my receipt e-mail not matching my account e-mail.
They can merge them under one I believe- They did for me.
Still a day early- is the pre-order information supposed to be on my account information along with serial numbers for other purchased StarDock software or will it show up tomorrow after being processed?
Good of an excuse as any I suppose. Your lack of enthusiasm also shows by coming to the forums, registering and telling us about it. Very little interest indeed ;)
I tried the batch file as well, no dice. Problem as it turned out was this batch file is assuming you need the 32bit DLL... However, Im on x64 and that's why it's telling me I need the SDCZip64.dll. It's no big problem however... just change the batch file to: @echo off set url=http://sd.stardock.com/mike/files/sdczip64.dll echo Adding SDCzip value to registry . . . reg add HKLM\Software\Stardock\ObjectDesktop /v SDCzip /t REG_SZ /d "%COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Stardock\S
