The old task manager still exists. And so does msconfig. Just use the Run Dialog hotkey (Windows Key+R) and type their respective names, "taskmgr.exe" and "msconfig.exe". So it appears you can still do stuff the old fashioned way. I just did "services.msc" and it brought up the list of services. So without the start menu, you'd have to be more of a power user to get around to the same stuff you could do right from the Start Menu from older versions

Okay, i'm running the Win8 Consumer Preview now. Even in desktop mode, they're dumbing it down. Why is Flip3D gone? Now it's just a vertical version of Alt+Tab. And when you do Windows Key+Tab, you can't go back to what you're currently running. You have to go to something else first before going back to your original window. Why on earth do we need two Alt+Tabs (the classic horizontal and the useless new vertical one)? I like

From the video I saw, i'm having mixed reactions with Win8. Seeing some the desktop improvements I wasn't expecting, but Metro still sucks A$$. I also need new glasses. Mine are all scratched up and old, like almost 5 years old. And I see a yellowish tint when I wear them as opposed to without. I think it's because of the Transitions Lens. But the Transitions definitely help reduce the brightness of the sun. Hence, they're like sunglasses. From what I know, ultrabooks are modeled after the MacBook Air. On the bright side, many ultrabooks will boot using SSDs instead of hard drives, as hard drives won't fit in slim ultrabooks. But it's still no sale for me, being the desktop enthusiast that I am. Working inside an ultrabook would be a nightmare! It's like, a machine smashed down all it's components into a flat pancake. I got my RAM today, and installed it successfully. Now I have 16GB. But for some reason, I can't make a RAM drive over 4GB. (And I bought the license for it to unlock capacities over 4GB) 4 gigs is the free version's limit. But the program states that I can go 15780MB.

I just found something out. Upon cold booting the PC, all of the contents will be erased (just like all RAM). But RAMDisk has the option of creating image disks which will reside on your local storage device. If anybody seriously wants to start using a RAM drive, get into the habit of creating and restoring image disks, or else all contents will be lost. Lucky for me, all the data I had on my RAM originally from elsewhere, so I technically "lost" nothing.
