@ morgenday If your router (the linksys you've stuck in there now) has a WAN IP (you can find this on the router's status page) that is on the 192.168.etc. subnet then your actual cable modem (the device from COX) is also doing NAT. If so you'll need to be able to get on that cable-modem to make changes that I can guide you through, however I would suggest you contact me via PM or xfire (the1monk) so that I can get you on my TS Server to "talk" you through the steps. <b

Update your game to version 1.02 before trying to login to ICO. There is an "update" button on the main menu. the Monk

@ lathorien Since I cannot comment with regard to your replies to other people's quotations, and I believe that you and I understand each other's point of view now; I will simply comment with regard to the now "infamous car analogy"...hehe I do actually know (believe it or not) how to fix/modify my car. :D I own (among other vehicles) a VW Jetta GL which I have personally done more to than my mechanic (he's done less for more money... :p ). Of course I'm not talkin

@ lathorien Being a husband and father as well, believe me when I say that I understand your point. Let me point out a grievance of my own. Being busy with (wife, children, businesses) I have precious little time to actually "play" games. Those that I do make the time for are few and far between. I've always been of a helping nature (in my family, business, etc.) so it stands to reason that I will also be that to the community of any game I'm playing
Yep Monk rocks. BTW: please remember monetary donation are an acceptable form of worship.
:D Ok seriously, that's not necessary. I'm just happy if people actually read/use my guides. Another satisfied host/player means another SINS target eh Spartan? hehe Have a nice day everyone! the Monk
okay, sorry if I sound like Im venting. I am just really frustrated. It seems like there is no real step by step guide to port forwarding. I have read many and it seems like they don't tell me how to actually access my port, it just says "access your IP."everything is so confusing
Please read point #4 in my first reply to this post.

1. You will not see "games in progress" in the list. As soon as a game is full and is started it is removed from the list. 2. Dedicated servers won't happen for this game as it is pure P2P. The "host" (host in name only) only "synchronizes" all of the "clients". All computers run the entire simulation on their own machines. 3. There is nothing wrong with having to learn a few things to game "safer". (devs that "encapsulate" / use NAT-traversal for their games are actaull
Ha Ha! Yea! I can host, still getting error message but i tested again and people joined, i must have gotten it a while ago but no one wanted to join my previous test games. P.S - The Monk, that was with McAfee ON, so it dosent interfear after all, but it maybe part of the false test message i am getting.
It depends which McAfee you are running (there are differing personal and enterprise versions). Some people are allowed to run the "enterprise" versions

@ Saviger Please contact me via xfire (the1monk) and I'll get you on my TS Server so I "talk" you through my instructions. There must be something you're missing. If you follow (implement) my instructions correctly it will work. the Monk

If you read my guide (Networking and SINS) you'll notice that McAfee is one to the programs I've found that has been in direct conflict with SINS on some systems (the windows firewall however works fine enabled with the proper exceptions). Some security software isn't ever truly "off" until its un-installed completely (it just happens that way sometimes). Windows Defender and Windows OneCare live must be disabled completely (the processes themselves as I've listed in my forum posts and
So, if I play a friend over the internet via direct IP connection through his router and I am not using ICO, I am actually at the mercy of his CPU ghz and his internet connection from his ISP?
That would be the nature of P2P yes whether your're using ICO or not. ICO is for "matchmaking", not hosting. Everyone actually runs the entire "simulation" on their own pc, the HOST (in name only) "synchronizes" the data between all clients, and as such the "slowest" of the c

@ Matrix67 Please don't compare games to each other from a "network transport" perspective as even if two games were to use the same protocol and even the same port number, they most certainly could/would be using same in a vastly different manner. Sins uses a "pure" p2p network transport method, and as such requires both the host (who doesn't really "host" anything, but instead simply "synchronizes" all of the clients) and client
We are posting on two separate accounts, pretty sure that means we have two separate games.
It was a simple question, as I'm sure since many people have "heard" they can use two instances of the game it may stand to reason that some might be trying it with ICO when in fact it is intended only for LAN-play.
We both bought ours from the website. We aren't trying to be "jerks" and garner "negative replies", but when we get replies that imply we are nothin

I just meant being logged into SDC might be causing an issue? Was worth a try. btw. double-posting is usually frowned upon in every forum, and doesn't garner positive results. You and your friend aren't by chance trying to use the same copy of the game? You are allowed two instances of the game for LAN-play, however not for ICO. Just a thought. the Monk
Same problem.
LOL I love posts like that. "Same problem".....lol I guess you might mean, you're experiencing the same "symptom". How do you know you two have the same "problem"? Maybe he's got some software "blocking" a portion of network traffic needed for ICO, and maybe for you its a router/modem firewall (or one of the other multitude of things which can/will get in the way of proper network communications)? /end rant Thanks fo
