I think you're being a little paranoid, dreamscapes is mere megabytes and doesn't install any system dependencies. If it slows any component of the system down at all (which is EXTREMELY unlike) then it is only by a fraction of a millisecond which will never be noticed at all by you.

Guess what? I just realized that this isn't even a problem! As long as you have access to deskscapes 2.0 that is. Just go into desktop background, select a deskscape, and check "use internal player" and it'll work. It only displays on the monitors on the primary adapter, but atleast it works, and all we really want is it to be on our primary monitor anyways. Ironic nobody noticed this yet ha ha If you select a still wallpaper first, then a dream, the secondary card will co
There is a voyager dream in the vistadreams.org Premium gallery, however you'd need deskscapes because they only give .dream files. Not sure why you won't want to get deskscapes because it's free to ultimate users, and clearly you have ultimate if you have dreamscene to run mpg's.
Same issue here running 280GTX and 8800GTS 320mb in non-sli. I can run 2 monitors on either card and it works but when I run 3 in any configuration it doesn't work because it uses both cards. Hope this gets worked out!
I would guess that your computer won't play the MPEG dreams (some dreams are MPEG, some are WMV). I suggest you follow my instructions at http://www.vistadreams.org/codec/
Just make the waves ripple and the trees slowly bend back and forth. The best dreams are those that are subtle and could go unnoticed because having a lot of action could be distracting.
What did you use to make the atmosphere/water? Did you use a 3rd party plugin? If so you can probably just "enable" animations on that. For the trees, I'd suggest using a bend modifier with keyframes setting the appropriate xyz bends to +-15 degrees. Might as well learn something rather than just having someone else do it :)
Can we ask multiple questions without disqualifying ourselves? How does ATI plan to change the future of advanced skinning and animations? For example will there be significant improvements to technologies such as Dreamscene to allow more hardware optimization taking load off of the CPU? This would lead to the ultimate interface if even animations and video files could be displayed 100% independent of the CPU, as well as advanced transparency effects and motion reactions in windowblinds skins
Can we submit more than one project per category? Or are we limited to only one?
There is a Dream category, you can enter it individually.
Cool when does the whole contest start? Is that known yet?
Will there be a dream category? How does this really work, like can I just make a dream for it or do you have to make a full desktop skin in a team? Noob question
I wonder if they're not saving the major "move to dynamic" for windows 7/some other major release of a product. This could also be because it stresses hardware even more than just aero and a video dream. Tech may just not truely be ready yet.
Why no dream category? I thought I read from a mod in the Alienware contest that we'd have another shot in the wincustomize contest.
I work for http://www.vistadreams.org and have made a spinning nvidia logo there. If you subscribe to the Premium area for a one time fee of $10, you can get that dream along with over 100 others.
I'm the guy who way back when introduced you to 3ds on VistaDreams :) Glad to see I inspired a new 3d artist. Heres my collection - 3DS Max 08 for most 3D dreams Vue xStream for nature scenes (This is an incredible tool for nature scenes, however you need to loop them in premiere and renders take a long time even with an overclocked quad) Premiere Pro CS3 - I use this for final touchups and looping. I prefer this to after effects. I've got AE in my Production
Just noticed this post by myself that I never made lol - Just wanting to confirm that even the hacker did not know what my password was? If he does I want to change it across the internet which will be a pain, but worth it if a hacker has it.
I think as faster hardware becomes common, it will take off more. On my overclocked quad core with 8800, it only uses max 3% cpu and it doesn't change system performance at all.
It's kind of pointless for me because I already have Ultimate with 1.0 so what is the advantage... I said it's OK because it has a few 3d tweaks I guess
I installed over the old version of it on ultimate and now after a restart I can set MPEG's as desktop background but DREAM'S are dead... they don't do anything, don't change wallpaper in any way :(
ya I use it for dreams. I got TMPGEnc xPress 4 to work at 1080p with some customizations to settings. The quality is great thanks! :)
Sorry guys don't take me wrong I'm not complaining at all I think the winners are great and I'm fine with it, I was just asking because it seemed weird that's all.
Anyone at all beyond 'Citizen' level and most of them as well [Citizens] are likewise 'friends of Wincustomize.com' and are exactly/equally eligible to enter such a contest....
Jafo, actually the rules clearly stated that friends or friends of friends of workers at wincustomize are not eligible for the contest
I got the demo but how do I do 1080 in it? All the presets are for 720 or normal SD resolutions. I tried a custom 1080p input but then when I hit start it says "The window size is not accepted by selected MPEG-2 level." How do you do 1080p conversions? The input is an uncompressed AVI
OK Sorry about that I was under the impression a master skinner was someone who works at stardock. Great job everyone!
good job :) but shouldn't TheMasterBaron have been disqualified for 'being friends of wincustomize' if he's a master dream maker for the company?
