I'm not a microbiologist, but I am a chemist who has taken more than a few biology and biochemistry courses. I can try to shed some small light on your questions, maybe the size of a small LED flashlight. First off, amino acids are not sugars. As the name suggests they are acidic. In organic compounds an acidic functional group comes at the end of a carbon chain, and consists of an oxygen atom double-bonded to the terminal carbon and an hydroxyl group (OH) single bonded

You can build a good working economy just fine with the Thalans without trading for farms. You can't over-expand or overbuild with them though, and placing their 3 initial wonders is crucial. The problem with the lack of farms for the Thalans is more military. They are kind of weak in invasion defense with only an 8 billion population.

Hehe. You missed the point there I think. At least as I see it. If you can easily keep morale while having 1 farm, but 2 farms push your population high enough that you are having problems maintaining morale again, the food distribution center is a great way to get more population while limiting morale problems. Building a farm and a distribution center is like having a farm and a quarter. The question I usually ask myself is "what gives me more money, building that extra 2b worth of po

OMG...Seth...take a chill pill. Maybe the blue one. First off, they said they are aware of the MFC71.dll issue but cannot put up an update that includes it until Tuesday. So have a little patience. Second, don't complain about Bink, if that's what they are using, that's what they are using. Third, you claim downloading anything from the internet is 'impossible' yet somehow you managed to download beta 6. Interesting dichotomy.

It's not so dumb to COLONIZE said world. What's dumb is not following it up. I have mentioned before that my favorite mode of victory is to turn off influence victory and win a conquest victory via influence flipping. There are two ways to attack an enemy this way. (well, there are more than two, but for simplicity's sake I'm just going to address 1) The first is the standard 'influence starbase by the border'. The second means involves a) getting all the colonization
Its a really nasty bug when it sticks around for turn after turn after turn (because nothing happens to change the culture lines -- they're in a static equilibrium). Especially when combined with the "neutral territory" UP law that used to shield me from the bad guys declaring war... and is now protecting half of "my" empire from me.
While generally I agree that 'we shouldn't have to work around' a bug like this, at the same time, if you are in danger of losing your game
EVE is pretty fun. But it is kind off slow paced.
Oh...I forgot to mention, get into 0.0 space. Tanking 3 Serpentis Lord Admirals != slow paced. Fleet battles with 400 PC ships on each side != slow paced. (2 weeks until my Ishtar!)
First of all, this game is plain addictive. I do not mean that in a good way. People will simply play this game for days on end. In fact, some people have died playing this game.
Addictions come in all shapes and flavors. And to date, I am aware of no Wow-related deaths from overplaying. I know of one from Starcraft, and one from Lineage.
One more obvious thing: The game isn't even any fun. Its like any other MMO.
This is obvious
Me personally, I'd love to go back to the old style where the ships just bounce to where you wanted to go without showing exactly how they got there.
This idea would kill the game for me. Why? Because if ships just popped up at their destination, you would have to heavily defend all your planets because you would never know if an invading fleet was on it's way. Your defensive fleets would just be simple to bypass.

I am going to ask a dumb question just to make sure all the bases are covered. There is an option in game settings (I don't remember exactly what it's called) that when you hit turn, it highlights ships that were on auto-pilot but arrived at their destination with movement points left. The turn button becomes a 'Skip' button and once you move that ship, it continues to process that end of turn, so it could APPEAR to be processing a new turn with every move, if you weren't aware this was set.<br/

Well, I don't know the specifics of what you are talking about from the information given...but in addition to Loup's comment you also need to look at upkeep cost. Lets say you build 5 regular industrial buildings and they have 5 upkeep and produce 10 industry. So you are producing 50 industry for a cost of 75bc (been playing Eve too much lately..I almost said ISK) That's 1.5 bc per industry point. Now you build one of your 10% bonus buildings, but it's upkeep is only 1. You ar

Heh...Since this situation has been around since DL, I doubt it is high on their priority list. I just don't see how annoying it could be to come up with a simple code to designate one race from another in ship naming. Hell, number the races 1 through C (I think?) or more if you use a lot of custom races and tack it on the end of the ship name. ... Within 5 games, you won't even notice it's annoyance.

5 Replies 3,354 Views

Neither is a bug. The first is because all the user ships are stored in the same directory. If you want to use the same names, then you need to have some designation for which race the ship is for. (for example) Frigate DNC001 for Frigate, Drengin Naval Contract 001. Frigate DNP001 for Frigate, Drath Naval Purchase 001.....etc The second can be fixed on the race select screen by hitting Clear (I think) then Load, then highlight the race in question and Delete. The opponent will

This sounds like a great idea for a mega-event! "Some mysterious race has built fake Ascension crystals all through the galaxy. Find the real ones!" Said mega-event should then disable the other victory conditions except conquest. (well, I guess it could disable that one too, but who would keep playing after eliminating all the other races....)

5 Replies 3,205 Views
The way to avoid this mega-event is to not stockpile more than 4-5 spies at a time.
That doesn't work. I rarely have more than 2 spies...one held in reserve and another doing his spy thing. (I don't do a lot of espianage in most games) and I get this mega-event more frequently than any other. Almost every game.
Diminishing returns- for high attack fleets and ships. When the firepower outweighs the defence by a certain percentage, the benefits are drastically reduced and the extra attack is added to the defence of the target! Example: A Knight with very little armour but massive uber muscles and little endurence runs out into the field and swings madly at the descently defended but well built opponent... the attacks energy is so invested into attack that the opponent weakens the attacker

I don't know on number 1 On number 2, you are just losing a RNG result. You aren't guaranteed to steal a tech every time you pop a planet free of your opponent.
