Ah. No great matter, I suppose, since once I'm able to take on one of them, the others should be equally defeatable....

Ah, OK, that makes sense. Thanks!
I've seen "Disable Mega Events" as a common piece of advice for new players, and tried to follow it... but I can't actually figure out how or where this is done! There doesn't seem to be anything obviously related to events under Options.
Yeah, I suspect it's the regular version. Can't remember the event text exactly, but it wasn't overly alarming-sounding. Assuming it is the regular event, does that mean there's only the one fleet?
Reading this thread with interest after wondering why the heck my homeworld's morale started plummeting. Am I correct that a general corollary to this situation is that one should seldom if ever research advanced farming technologies?
Will pirates attack mining outposts? If they don't, maybe I can limit the damage somewhat until I find something that can destroy them. Also, when a pirate event occurs, is there just the one fleet created? Or could there more roaming around that I haven't spotted? Or will there be an unending stream of them from now on?
If you have the 1.5X patch, your game will read as 1.5X2 in the main screen. If you've added the fix patch, then it will read 1.5X3. Also, while in Stardock Central, you can click on the Games icon. This will bring up a list of the purchased games you have installed on your system. Just click on Galactic Civilizations II and you'll see whether there's anything available. Ah, OK, thanks, sounds like I probably nee
I'm playing my first game, and had pirates show up for the first time. It's still fairly early on (I just got access to Medium hulls), and the pirate fleet showed up right next to a setup I have around one of my better planets, with a Military Starbase, an Influencer (which, oops, I forgot to put a defense module on), and lots of asteroids. It doesn't *look* like it should be an insurmountable challenge (one medium-sized Pirate, one fighter, but it is.) The frigate has Stinger
BTW, does GC generally behave itself if you keep playing an older saved game after a new patch?

Thanks, glad to see I'm not grossly misunderstanding anything. Can mini-freighters fight back if attacked, and the hull is armed? Is this worth the trouble, or is the occasional loss just "the price of doing business?" If a freighter is destroyed, does this also kill the route? I imagine trade routes are automatically killed if war breaks out between trading partners?
I'm a little confused by some of the aspects of trade routes. When a route is established, my freighter turns into a little "mini-ship" - and I know it can be attacked, etc. And it shows up on the ship roster just like all my other ships. But what, if anything, should I do with these ships once a route is established? Should I just pretty much leave them alone for the rest of the game? Can I upgrade them with the latest model and keep the route? (And is there any point to do
Hmm. I was pretty sure I have it fully patched, but maybe I don't? I thought it got updated when I first installed it, but was a little confused yesterday when I clicked on the Update button, and all it seemed to do was bring up that Stardock control panel window thingy, which didn't have anything obvious (to me) about updating or an indicator that the game did or didn't need a patch....
I'm a new player, somewhat confused by this thread. To me, it seems like tech trading is pretty rational, with reasonable trades possible for most things, and only a few exceptions where the AI considers a particular tech to be especially vital, usually with good reason. In my current game, for example, the Drengin are the only people who have Planetary Invasion, and it seems quite reasonable that you wouldn't want to give that away carelessly. Obviously, having good Diplomacy seems i
Does spy activity make the target mad at you in terms of diplomatic relations? I was thinking it might be something you'd do only during wartime (or against someone you expect to go to war with soon?) Does espionage spending only produce spy units, or does allocating money there improve your general intelligence levels somehow?
