"We've worked an event log into the 1.7 release (beta this friday)...hopefully that will tide players over until we can do the E.G. correctly." Nice! Great to see there's stuff to look forward to in the next release . Also great to know the EG hasn't been abandoned! The event log itself is a great feature <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 al

Yeah, if you're using Vista, you need to stay on top of the drivers, especially the video card drivers. You'll find that Vista will be much more stable and will perform much better with the latest drivers and updates. I recommend checking the video drivers once a month, as nVidia has been releasing updates pretty regularly.

"Another user who reported missing strings found that he had an english.str.tmp file in his directory, and renaming that to english.str fixed the problem." Yup, it appears you're correct: -English.str is 4/19, and there is an English.str.tmp dated 10/1 -Screens.str seems to be fine - it's dated 10/4 Fixed.

As far as missing strings go, I get these: Debug Message: Error. String Not Found. Table: Dialog String Name: MiscTechResearched Debug Message: Error. String Not Found. Table: Dialog String Name: CivDestroyed . . . and I've been getting a crash right after the statistics screen when it tries to switch to the next scenario in the campaign. I've sent an email to tech support about that.

I like it . One thing I think would improve it: The option to have it automatically save the log to a file at the end of a game. Which doesn't seem to be in there AFAIK - but then again, GalCiv crashes whenever a game ends, and I may have missed it due to the crashing. The crash, BTW, is a total and complete lockup of my computer. The mouse freezes and all hard drive activity cea

would players be interested in another 2 or 3 or more expansion packs in the future? If they expand the gameplay as much as DA, absolutely . Eh, as far as I'm concerned, you could take it a step further (or in this case less) than expansion packs, and offer mini-expansions or micropayments. For example, I'd be willing to dish out

"The Orbiting Object Formerly Known As Pluto!" The name is still Pluto - it's just not considered a planet. I think they recategorized it as a "dwarf planet" or something odd like that. It's because they found a new object larger than Pluto that would classify as a planet. And for some strange reason which I cannot phantom, they don't want any more new planets in our solar system. Seriously, what happened to the coolness of discovering new planets? Now it seem

Geez, can't we keep this all to the existing topics? It expresses the central idea of atheism. The same idea is illustrated with the Flying Spaghetti Monster and so on. And the cool thing about this idea is, there's no way around it. It's absolutely watertight. Not really. They only argue against a couple reasons to believe God exists. There are other arguments for the existence of God they don't address. In addition, they are pure spec

It's always about the *richest* man in the world. Why not have a award for the poorest amn in the world? Becasue there would be quite a few tied for the honor... Interestingly enough, with our credit card economy, it's entirely possible to have a balance of well below zero. In fact, collecting interest and fees off of people who are in debt is a major source of income for credit card companies. And oh, yeah, college kids easily qu

also, does the bible mention the severity of the storm? AFAIK, most flood-level storms produce very turbulent waters; do the simulations you mention include that? The ark could theoretically survive 30 meter waves using 30cm of wood, it displaced approximately 21000 tons, and could theoretically have a cargo weight of 17000 tons. 13 different hull designs were tested (the ark's own dimensions is listed as ship #0), and only one of them failed to meet the

Hmm about six months ago a gay couple walked past a bar that I frequent, one of the regulars and a bouncer made kissing faces at them. I stopped going there and told the owners what happened those two are no longer alowed at that bar.... I m sure you would approve of my action... its also cultural policing. I think you should say you don t like how the culture is policed today instead of we should not police it. It's sad to see so much prejudice in this

early ship construction was canoes. the pacific islands were populated by way of outrigger. the most advanced ships in hellenic period were probably triremes, but they were built for sailing the calm waters of the mediterranean and the atlantic coast, and they still sank a-plenty. Chinese junks weren't developed until the second century BC. What does this tell me about the knowledge of shipbuilding at the time? Probably nothing. The ark wasn't a sailing

yes, i'm sorry to say it is. for starters, variation is not binary. two specimens with completely different chormosomes cannot represent the full spectrum of variation of most traits in a species. take human eye color. brown/black is the typical dominant. but green, blue, grey, and amber are all possible. one individual cannot carry the genes for all four of those recessive traits (especially because most recessive traits require dual-pairing of the gene from both

i can point to one mistake that noah made. cheetahs: all cheetahs are clones of each other. ie they all have the exact same genes. except of course for male and female genes. IMHO, that was probably due to factors that happened after the flood, rather than at the flood. It's generally believed that God chose the animals to be included in the ark, rather than Noah himself. In this case, I think dystopic has the right idea. <div

there was a war before the earth was made physical and there were be a final war at the end of the 1000 years of peace. don't get that war mixed up with the war just before christ returns. If I remember correctly, the war you mention is from other sources - and although they may provide some helpful information, they are not considered have the same weight as the canonical books. you don't recall in revelations about the 2/3rds of the stars falling to earth. those were the souls that became the demons along with the dragon. I'm looking for this passage, but my search is coming up empty. Neither the KJV nor the NIV seem to have a reference to 2/3 of the stars falling to Earth in the book of Revelation. In addition, I do not see any passages equating stars with souls. the mother is the f

we all existed before abraham. we all existed before adam. Curious: Where did you get that from? I don't seem to recall such a teaching in the Bible. but no body refers to themself as my father. And the trinitarian belief is indeed that the Father is not the Son. i also stated that christ is god in the old testiment. Testaments don't really matter: It'
