With the last recalc, it looks like Peace Phoenix formula combined with the 5% deprecation is definitely working. At least it does for my score. I think previously the NumberOfGames^.4 was being rounded down. The rounding is no longer happening. Taking a look at games played and the scores for those games, the rankings appear to be pretty clean with this setup as well. I think it’s the best set I’ve seen through the various Metaverse recalc’s anyway...

I know of one repeatable (at least for me) occasion for this. If you flip a planet and buy something on a tile without exiting, it voids the affect of the purchased tile. If you exit the flipped planet, come back in, and then buy it, no problems. Have you seen it in other circumstances?

Here are some quick pointers for scoring... 1) People, people, and more people. 2) Keep building military units even if you don't need them. Go for weapons, they have the best cost/score ratio. So far as I can tell, your military score is based purely on your military ranking, not your success/kills in battle. 3) Turn off everything but military victories. It gives you a huge point bonus. 4) The more usable planets, the easier to raise all the a

Zubaz, I would normally agree...However, I have an item posted under the forum "Support & Bugs" and "STICKY: Metaverse Help!" that has not been responded to in ~2 weeks (different topic, but still). I would normally consider that a reasonable place to see a response from a post about what appears to be a metaverse bug. I used to work for a company that did network games online (about 40 people)...You don't have developers monitor a spot like that (or do support/response

On the positive, I like the game and I like the patches to the game. My complaints about the game play are minor at best. The game scoring needs some tweaking mostly because playing beyond the real end of the game is still rewarded, but even this isn’t too severe. People have been complaining about the metaverse scoring since before I started playing GalCiv2. The problems have been laid out pretty clearly by multiple people in multiple threads and there is a great deal

The reclac is all done so far as anyone can tell. I think tbay made a small mistake in his statement though. There is a cliff at 6, but I believe the next cliff is at 16 not 11 (not there yet, based on other threads)... Master Marcus is right about saying it is a great game. Truth be told, if it wasn't, I wouldn't have played it enough to be annoyed by what I see as a few relatively easy to fix flaws in the metaverse <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/

I find this annoying as well. If they would at least change it from a cliffing affect to something more gradual that would help tremendously. I.E. 100% for fist game 95% for two games 90% for three.... This would at least allow every game you post to up your score rather than posting a good game and seeing your score drop off the cliff. Also it appears that there are still some betas that did not get hit by the recalc and should have. I think

You get less and less from peace treaties, if you make a habit of breaking them. Eventually they will not make peace with you...Of course, by then, they should only be a remnant race! It seems to be localized to only your dealings with that race though and the ill will decays over time.

I sense mission creep. From a sound, to an option of sound, to an option of multiple sounds...Next there will be a design your own end of turn music program, complete with different customizable sounds for everything you can click in the game! Although I have to say I have hit the end of turn button accidentally for two different reasons and tend to treat that part of my screen like a live wire. One the mini-map overlay bug they fixed. Thank you! Also when exiting a battle screen

Mascrinthus, My laptop only has 512. (Desktop is much better thankfully). Zerogman's advice is sound and will help (but with your config, you might have to up the numbers a bit). Here are a few more things. If you turn off all the background nebula/stars etc. it helps the game speed tremendously by not using nearly so much memory. Zoom the main screen out until you get just the 2D icons before hitting end turn. Turning off the mods in the option

Tasslehoff the code died with the bad memory and dead green screen on the KayPro II computer and my inability to read CPM based formatted floppies Kind of wish I did still have it!

I would like to second Castellon's problem. I recently joined (2 days ago?) the overmind empire and have been promoted to senator (and I am listed as such on the empire home page). On the empire's home page I only see the join empire button. If I click it, my character is listed as already a member, with "Leave empire" as an option. If I go to Account->View My Empire or Account->Edit My Empire, I get screens for creating a new empire. May or may not be related. I have a

Being the geek I am, I not only typed in all the code for Hammurabi (see comment #5), I modified it to extend the fun of playing it. The very first time I wrote any code! I think romance of the three kingdoms (NES) was the first in the traditional strategy line for me (sadly I’ve played it on a NES emulator for old times sake in the last six months). Followed fairly closely by Masters of Orion (I still have it and played it as recently as two years ago) and Civ I. There is also ano

How about this one...I went into the diplomatic trade screen to trade with the Iconians. They had so much money that it couldn't display the number (I didn't write it down, but it was in the millions). So even the computer players evidently overrun the counters sometimes. Thankfully they have been relegated to a backwater race already, or it might worry me!

I made a change in play...Right click the ships to launch them and then "T" them to a rally point. I haven't seen any of the above bugs since making this change. My guess is the rally point autopilot is saved and/or takes up system resources a little bit differently than a manual autopilot. It is actually a little more efficient anyway. So far, I haven't been hit by the autopilot bug you guys were seeing on loading a game since using rally points. (fingers crossed)

Thanks for the info, you are another clear cut no recalc case. If you do hit another score cliff, post at what point...Maybe with enough data points we can extrapolate a formula. Puzzles like this drive me nuts! They screw with my sense of how a universe should be ordered
