it seems that it's usually due to the computer having done the calculations before combat actually starts... and then rushes through the combat screen to catch up with where it is now..... don't know how to fix it though, I usually don't use tactical combat that often

considering what you can expect is that you won't get into a war unless you start it.... you could try going for an influence victory... requires lots of starbases (center them around AI high PQ planets) and flip the planets... makes for a long game! On responding to the post; posts don't show up on the "most recent posts" list unless at least one reply is in there, so I advise to bump your own post.... such as replying to your own post with "I'd like to try something else"... on most

Actually I rely on freighters not for economy but to make sure I don't get ganged up on while conquering the galaxy.... just send trade routes to civs you are not at war with, they'll be less likely to gang up on you... then when you've defeated a civ, you attack another one, switch the routes to the remaining civs.... etc. etc. in the end you'll have trade with only 1 civilization who hasn't gone to war yet... making conquest much easier.... I do realize that some would consider

I understand that... the reason we're switching to IRC is because this forum will get way too big at some point and we'll just be eating up stardock's server... We'll keep this post for important messages... (or if we can't reach someone on IRC) it would be nice if you could ask if you'd be able to download Stardock Central...

erm......................... no.... then things do get difficult.... don't know how to help you... you might google for some free web based IRC, they are out there, but for that you need to have Java Runtime installed

if you have GalCiv2 it at one point asked if you wanted to install Stardock Central (it's on the CD) it should be under Start-->All Programs-->Stardock just click on that and follow the instructions above

I find it's generally OK to see the effective area of a constructor.... except if you use black... but if you use that you can't see many things on the map... including your influence!

I'v never had a problem... but if I do that sort of re-design I usually delete the component and add it somewhere els.... but it is a strange bug.... maybe deleting and adding will help avoid the problem
