Depends how you treat those worlds (amongst many other factors, I'm sure). Yor not really talking about my post - i was talking about high taxation being a problem for newly conquored worlds since they would be unhappy and not grow in population. This would force the player to turn down taxation and loose all that income from his happy worlds This has never happened

After playing through the campaign I would have to say that my views are slightly less favourable to DA than before - while DA is an excellent expansion it's by no means the "best expansion ever" like people are saying in this thread. I could think of many things in the campaign that could have been improved, which other games have. Things like cutscenes, scripted/triggered events during missions and an involving storyline with actual characters would have gone a long way to m

One thing I don't understand is you said Evil gets a 100% economy boost. I've never noticed this and I've never seen it listed in the description for evil. Do you have to build a certain building to get it?

Great post. I want to echo what neilo said, your dedication to the game is incredible. I haven't really played that game to the same degree you have, but so far in DA I've never been forced into building anything other than one weapon type so I definitely think defence needs a boost. Solution 1 would probably work best IMO because it wouldn't have as many side effects. Solution 2 could unbalance the game, as it esentially makes weapons 1/4 as powerful, you could potentially rush to

Yeah I've been experimenting a bit over the last day with a +70% pop grown and maxing out all the morale bonuses, having an economic capital with 2 farms still needs 4+ entertainment buildings to keep them happy when it hits max pop, On big worlds though (16+) I think it's worth it because you can still put in 6-8 stock markets and make a killing.

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I haven't visited these forums for about a year. So far I'm loving DA and it's really got me back into this game. One thing I'm coming to realise is that having more than 1 farm on a planet seems to require such a ridiculous number of entertainment buildings to keep the population happy that it doesn't seem like it's worth it. Is it better just to stop at one farm and use the rest of the space for economy buildings? assuming you're not going to be

DA is definitely a great expansion, no doubt, probably the best expansion for a TBS game I've seen. I think there are some RTS and RP expansions out there that blow it out of the water. My favourite expansion of all time would still be Neverwinter nights: HOTU, the campaign was almost as large as the original game and there was so much added content for both modders and players. Nevertheless I would say that the addition of the super abilities and the other features in DA, combine

Never mind, I figured it out. The mission said sector 1,3 instead of coordinates 1,3 - I thought I was in the right place because the mission breifing said there was a morale resource to the east, obviously it was talking about a different one. I feel quite the fool, why doesn't this forum have a delete post option

(spoilers warning ahead) Just informing you guys of a bug with the DA campaign mission 5. I completed the victory condition and got no victory screen. Here's a screenshot of me with the ship at the specified coords (1,3). I popped about 3 turns with the ship sitting there and no victory screen. Mission difficulty was set to tough.

I've never found a use for either myself. I like to zoom all the way out before I hit the turn button and that way I can easily see any suspicious movement and deal with it as needed. Sometimes I'll play the whole game zoomed out as the game is often a lot easier to manage with the icons representing things rather than the graphical models.

I've tried it, used the drath with +50 espionage and took the political party with +20 espionage, played on painful difficulty level. While the game was quite fun, I can't say I noticed myself stealing tech any faster than usual - in fact it was really slow and I still got way more tech from invading planets. I did get up to advanced quite quickly on most races, but I usually do anyway so it wasn't really a big deal. In hindsight I'd say that taking espionage is probably the most worthless

yeah I used this exact same strat in almost all of my games before 1.1, when I tried to not do it, the AI would end up getting ahead using tech trading so it would basically force me into it, and it was so easy to just get free money and cripple the enemy economy at the same time I really couldn't help myself sometimes. Now I just switch tech trading off and the game has a lot more depth to it.

No idea but I'm having a similar problem with the AI in a custom game I'm playing. I selected random number of opponents, with all AIs set to intelligent and drew the Arcaens and Dominion of Korx. Neither of these races have built anything other than colony ships so far, despite having researched quite high up the space warfare tree. When I invaded the Dominion's homeworld I found only a few of the tiles had been built on and they were building a technology capital despite not

It's funny, I've found the AI so brutally efficient with their core worlds at the start to the point where they always out produce and out colonise me by a long way no matter what I do - then after a while for some unkown reason they start to turn retarded, building planets with no factory, not fully building on planets, building like 5 farms despite not having anywhere near enough population to even use 1, or building 5 embassies on planets with only

You think a software company actually gives a rats ass what you think? They are concerned with the bottom line pal. Wiseup! It's about sales, nothing more than sales. Companies don't go into business to please the masses, they do it to make money. You actually think Stardock makes a good product? Can you not read these foru

Intended or not, I agree with the OP, it's horrible strategy. I'm the laziest of players but even I don't leave single ships just lying around in stacks, I'll always make them into fleets. If you've got one fleet protecting a stack of single ships then if the fleet gets killed the rest are just free kills for enemy fleets. That's why I always use "fleet" rally points. As far as I know you don't pay extra for having your ships in fleets so there's

The +300 Farming tiles are very good in my opinion. The economic bonuses of having a high population are just enourmous. Not so much from taxes, but from trade. If you have all your trade routes from the one planet, and that planet has a very high pop, and you also surround that planet with economic starbases with +trade income modules you're looking at some seriously fat income right there. As well as the trade farm tactic, the +300 t

I don't get why people make such a big deal about race balance in a single player game. If you feel playing one race is too powerful then just up the difficulty slider to compensate or play another race. In this game your starting location and the amount of habitable planets and bonus tiles where you start makes 10x more difference that what race you pick anyway.

Having played both Moo2 and GCII a lot I gotta say they're both awesome games and it's really hard to pick one over the other - especially seeing as how GCII is still fairly new and we most likely won't see the 'finished' product for a few years. I have to say though that at this early stage GCII has a definite edge in the area of AI which gives it much more long term single player playability. Moo2's strengths were obviously multiplayer capabili

Getting an editor to look over all the in game text would have really done wonders for this game. The spelling doesn't really bother me so much ( I wouldn't have even noticed malice spelt wrong) but the wording really stands out like a sore thumb sometimes. Those examples you put aren't even that bad, I've seen much worse in this game.
