Yeah, some of the descriptions do more harm than good. I am often not really sure what the benefit of a building or upgrade is or where certain bonuses are applied. I am really looking forward to implementing the Galactopedia or a something similar in the next update. they want to do that, don't they? thought I read it in some post. and please add more detailed descriptions to the tech tree!
I think the amount is "kind of" fixed, but I think it's not like 200bc for Laser II or 325bc for Research Academies etc. It seems like it is fixed to a certain percentage of their total money. Because when I want to trade some wretched AI faction some of my far superior techs they are only willing to pay like 100bc and the total amount they posses is around 300 or so. At the same time an other AI is willing to pay me 400-600bc - and I think it's because they are capable to pay its worth (to me)
So far trade worked ok for me. It's difficult enough to get offensive techs like logistics, miniaturization, weapons etc. amd easier to get things like xeno farming etc. Probably the whole thing depends a lot on your style of playing the game. When going for a diplomatic victory and a high diplomacy rating sometimes the AI practically throws its techs at me and accepts offers I never would. But on the other hand thats what it says in the diplomacy screen ("They think we are practically go
Sometimes they contact you at the beginning of the first turn but as I understand it that only happens when you start so close to each other that you can see them or their flagship from the beginning - same like when meeting them for the first time after a few turns. I think what he meens is that you can speak to all the other 9 races from the beginning without meeting them. Normaly only the races you have met show up in the foreign relations scre
I think there should be a specific order of what is attacked when there are several Fleets/Starbases/Freigters in the same spot. When there is a fleet and a starbase on the same spot it only makes sense that the defending fleets tries to intercept the attacker before getting to the base. Secondly the fleet would lose all the benefits from the starbase (military) when it's gone. Same with freighters. The fleet/ship should defend the cargo ship
I played my first game with the Beta 4 (0.18) installed and noticed something wich might or might not be a bug. Whatever it is - its not disrupting the game or anything. Just wanted to let you know. I was going for an alliance (had alliances researched) victory and so I checked my relations frequently to see if I was "close" with anyone and to trade them the alliance tech if needed. I had friendly relations with some races but I also got
What you can do is spent one po your points on soldiering and the other starting abilities. This will overwrite the build in bonus. Now when you take that point away again you will have no bonus in that ability. However... This does not give you any additional points to spent on abilities exceeding the standard ten, <img src="http://images.stardo
All races have some special abilities they get from the start without using abilitiy points. In the menu where you can spend your points you will notice that there is probably no x / mark for an economy bonus even though its listed in the overview - unlike when you choose a bonus they don't have from the start. Now when you put your 4 points on economy it kind of overwrites the initial - and free - bonus. Just counting/checking the bonus you get for y
That's the intention - sort of. Was the first name I used in a LAN Game - just for fun. Used it ever since P.S. Glad that I could be of help!
Gamefan: There are different options. 1. Adding a *w* to the desktop shortcut (without the asterisk) is supposed to work - never did for me. 2. I think some posts mentioned that there is an option somewhere in the options menue. 3. Go to your My documents/My Games/GalCiv2 folder and edit the prefs.ini file: There is a line saying "Fullscreen=1" Change thet to 0 (you can change it back anytime) And below that you
Hi! It would be very nice if someone could help me out here. I have some (at least slightly related) questions regarding the galaxy setup: 1. The custom maps: Is there information anywhere what they look like or what their *purpose*, features or qualities are? Are they restricted to a certain galaxy size or number of races/specific races? Some information in the selection screen would be nice. 2. Scenarios: What experience have you made with the scenarios so
Draginol: "Since I wrote the AI, I also know its secrets. I know, for instance that I have to keep the Drath happy because they do recognize wars of conquest and will pay others to unite in wars against those that do it. But I've been keeping on their good side. What will need to be done in the future is to expand on this pattern recognition. But like I said, we're talking about a very specific map setup." Are there some Civs that don`t r
In the civilization management window where you are presented with the entire list of planets, what they're building etc, please have an indicator of some kind that displays what the planet's current Production Focus is. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quot
An answer to this would be really nice since Stardock made all this effort to create an AI that doesn't cheat and is intednded to behave like a human. I really like the idea of the AI playing by the same rules as the player! An explanation of the difficulty levels would be great!
Thats one of the interesting points. By the way, in the diplomacy screen: Did anybody get something different than " their people don't have a real opinion on us". Just today the altarians contacted me and said "We really admire you and would like to give you 89 bc" (more like peanuts compared to my treasury - but I appreciated the gesture ). So I was gra
Thanks WTF_Chuck My fighters had titanium armor so that explains that. I think they should only get an assist in their equiped defenses, but thats a gameplay issue and not a bug.
Ah, now i see. Impulse drive gives +10 Speed - wich probably translates to +1 Speed / +1 Parsec. And I probably phrased the defense assist issue wrong. My ships DO get the defense assist against missiles even though they have no chaff/ecm etc. themselves, but I have researched chaff etc. - just didn't equip the fighters. But I will have a closer look since I overlooked the speed thing. So far thanks for the replies! </
Hi! First I want to thank Stardock for a great game (that took a lot of my time so far - seems like a problem everyone has ). And I really appreciate the support so far! I have come across a few issues and I am not sure if they are "bugs" or if I just don't get something right. So any help on the subject would be appreciated: 1. Starbase Upgrades When clicking on my
