It can work out all wrong sometimes. Even with 1.1 I once assaulted a planet with a fleet of transports and they ALL landed, leaving me with no transports and a population on the planet larger than food would support.
cebuguy
you built a CORE battleship? wtf
It definatly IS the same map 3 times. I am afraid I have that kinda memory. I could even walk you through the old wizardy maps from the 1980s games. Funny thing is, I remember that, I can remember star clusters, all my old D&D adventures but cannot remember going to bed most evenings. That is the rum here I am afraid at about $1 a bottle. hehe I only noticed it when I started in exactly the same place, it was only much later in the game when I uncovered the whole map I recognised
After god knows how many hours struggling on my cyrrent game on masochistic I just realised that this is not the 2nd time I have encountered this star map, it is the third! It is sometimes hard to recognise when you are playing in a different part of the galaxy. Maybe something we need in maybe 1.3 is more maps
on any size map over 20 planets can make any victory a lot easier. 36? thats just a gift from the random generating gods Where do we pray?
I have played lots (and lots, my wife will tell you) of games of vanilla, beta and 1.1 and every galaxy has been different. Odd thing is since loading 1.11 I have had 2 galaxies almost exactly the same as previous games. The race start points were slightly different, maybe due to random races tho. Is this just chance?
I once killed off all the majors in a normal setup scenario save for the drengin who I was allied to, but the game did not recognise the victory. It still said on the victory page that I had to ally with the drengin. That was in 1.0 outta the box tho
Maybe you are just an extreamly lucky guy
I suspect recent patches toned down the frequency as I too see far fewer events than I did with vanilla
Thanks for the reply greenreaper, I wil give that a go.
Is there a server problem with the DL of 1.11? I got 1.1 beta4 fine and 1.1, but each time I use stardock central to DL 1.11, while it shows me as logged in and that I have a legitimate purchase of GC2 it fails the DL claiming invalid account error.
These bonuses have been cut down quite a bit in 1.1 The have still been the difference between life and death sometimes tho even with this weakening.
I love the game, especially since the patch and applaud all those involved but a bit less click click click deep into the game would be kind to my forearm which is beginning to look like popeye's
I always wondered about this... does the AI use your last pick or use its own?
Some serious food for thought here. I am considering playing my next game with researching or trading for NO enhancements. I have seen 20+ planets at end of game still only 2 thirds full when colonized or taken late in game. OK the "buy it" faction will yell "buy it"....who the hell do you thinik you are my son? wife? Dont I get enough of that from them?
I am kinda laughing my head off at the idea of ships full of killer grandmas going off to take out the drengi. go grandma go !
In a more modern example think of animal rights protesters, from many peoples point of view they do "evil" deeds to prevent animal testing but from their point of view these same deeds are "good" as they are fighting for the animals. In the end, if the animal rights protesters are stopped then they are stopped from doing "evil" deeds if we stop animal testing then people w
I think life as anyone in the gal civ2 era must be pretty crappy. You are just about to buy a new house, settle down with your lovely wife and bang, you and 3 billion other citizens are shoved into a transport ship and zoomed across light years to fight to the death with some other bunch of citizens who wanted no more than to enjoy a restfull weekend. Ok you are one of the few who survive and you are marched into the factories to turn out more transports to invade the next
well after several weeks and patches and increeasing difficulty level...... the AI kicks my ass every time on masochist go tell
the main thing about weapons is.... what is your potential enemy defending against? the other thing to think about is only the anti missle tech tree has a bonus to add 20 % research every game is different viva gal civ 2
At masochist the AI is damn clever. Not only does it have huge bonuses it does sneaky things like Q ships, like 55 attack freighters. Imagine what that does to their military level and to any fast interceptor you inadvertantly attack it with. I won 2 out 3 on masochist with 1.1 beta 4, with 1.1 I am a broken man. hats off to the guys playing and winning on suicidal.
More to the above... I cannot ever seem to ally with anyone despite friendly. I got into a really ridiculous situation where MY ships were kicking the drengie asses harrasing my would be allys home world and what happens? Relations went down because they "knew what I was doing" hahhahahhaha I wish I did
I am playing 1.1 either masochist or crippling depending on how much I want my butt kicked. But what happened to alliances? I just cannot get anyone "close" no matter what I give them, no matter how much trade. Is this the difficulty level or the patch? Oh one last thing.... That f**cking dog barking next door. Can't Stardock do something about it? They are miracle workers after all.
Finally someone beat my story. Emailed freind in canada to buy the game email me the code and downloaded a pirate to patch with the code. I STILL do not have the box tho' The post here in cebu is crap
I had a sneaky idea. If star bases count for military level, well they have large hulls 30+hp plus 3 attack after adding one level, whooo wont they count for a lot? Ah no, i just tried it and it dont work well it is just something added to the common knowledge.
