Well the latest beta does crash fairly often on my computer too. A bit too often.

Just... don't clock it.
It's rare to see this kind of stuff anywhere on any game. It is great, yeah. Also the behind the scenes interview about what went wrong, what went right and what were the realities, such as the budget, when Stardock build the game was really cool reading.
OVerclocking is one of those things where you should know what you are doing. The risks might be low, but on the other hand they do exist. Asking how can I get 2.5GHz isn't really a question and is impossible to answer. Not every cpu can be clocked, perhaps not even 1 MHz. Also this stuff can make your computer unstable even if it doesn't break it. Hardware failure only happens when heat cooks the hw up and if the heat sensors exist and are working cor
I've seen that occasionally too. I'm not sure if it's in the latest version or not. Perhaps it was fixed, but an annoying bug for sure.
My strategy is to keep people 100% happy for the beginning and buy several colony ships without stressing the population too much so it'll grow. I imagine on the harder levels that won't do so well since you have less money. On normal it's okay.
Mine's a 3200+, X800XL, 1GB of DDR400. A mid end computer. 2500+ was a good buy since it overclocked to 3200+ with ease.
I can't understand why just wait them to trade with you since it gives nice amount of money and improves the relationships. It's a few ships. Can't be that bad if you might lose some of them in the future.
Sounds good. I'd love if smaller UI things were fixed too such as the square in minimap that indicates which part of the world am I looking at really would show the right place. Now it's often misplaced and moves to the right area when I click the world map. There are a few annoying things like that and they really decrease the game experience for me. A few are related to spaceship movement or rather choosing the ships and their destination etc.
Alliances shouldn't be that hard when you do the following: Trade - tech and cargo Aligment - I guess being Good is the easiest to get an alliance Peace - Don't get into too many wars, especially with the good or neutral races. They might have friends and no one likes a war monger. Bribery - Give them gifts. Also it might help if you vote for some race and several other things. Don't pile up your forces nea
Oooh, MoM2 would be awesome. Hard to describe why and how the first one was so awesome even with certain faults in design. But it was the first version. Microprose was the greatest game house ever. Perhaps MoM was good because of the interaction between the tactical and strategic warfare and the world itself. Mines, warlords type of lairs, towers etc, spellbooks, rpg elements. The same randomness in maps and games as GalCiv2 also has. Sweet
It's also good to remember that the game is totally different if you play 1-on-1 game in a tiny galaxy with easiest difficulty compared to a 8-race huge galaxy and obscene difficulty. That's the strength of this game too.
I agree. The fleetmanager is useful to prevent lightning fast invasions. Otherwise just blast the enemy to the kingdom come before he can attack anything. First strike is the best defense. Here's another point of view that I don't think has come up yet: the galactic archievements. Which one you'd rather have? Some speculative defense system that might be 100% useless especially if you play it right or some soldier or minituralizat
I find it most annoying that planetary defenses take a whole building spot each. This makes small planets unable to build them or build just about nothing than defenses. Bigger planets on the other hand really would like to have more and more production. Couldn't one construct like one square for defenses and upgrade it with different things or otherwise group the defenses. I'd like that.
That's pretty confusing and requires a lot of memorizing. The game should show the max population and the needed farms.
In my experience the surrendering sure is not random. Only once has a beaten faction surrendered to me if I've been the attacker. That WW2 analogy was a bit stupid, since the germans were already conquered. Their soldiers on the other hand much rather surrendered to the allies than the russian who'd shoot and/or torture them. I'd do so myself too if I had to surrender to someone. I'd seek help from the ones who I like or like better. I'd imagine GS2 mi
I think it looks good, though I'm a bit biased since I've already seen the game and know it's more than great.
This sounds pretty cool
