One more thing I noticed. Ranger class ships do not become available to me until I research large hulls. I thought they were supposed to be medium sized ships? Even their description says so. As a result, Rangers and Destroyers have the exact same dimensions and power.

I've gotten a lot more crashes to desktop in 5.83 than I did in 5.82. I have not gotten past turn 200 once. The crashes have happened either when I attack a shipyard, get invaded or occasionally when I battle with pirates. In addition, the colors for the mini icons of the asteroid resources when you are zoomed out are all gone. All of the resource icons are now white. It does seem like the other races put all of their resources into military spending from the

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I've started 3 games as the Thalans, and each time before I ever click the mouse once, they achieve the first 3 levels of industrialization. In addition, they only start with a home planet whereas the other races typically start with a home planet and a class 5 or 6 planet nearby to facilitate the first colony.

Has anyone else noticed that the mathematical outcome of a UP vote has no effect on the actual outcome of the vote? I've had several that turned out 3-2 and it was the 2 that won the vote. Does more go into the voting process than just number of votes?

I don't have an issue with the AI using superweapons. The issue I have, at least recently, is that the AI has researched superweapons 20 minutes into a game. Assuming all players are starting at the same level, this should be impossible, at least at the lower levels at which I play the game. How can a fair AI player have superweapons when I've barely built up enough resources and research to conquer 3 planets? Then they just sit back and blast my colonies to ki
Think the first game I played on a computer (some type of Apple II) was Castle Wolfenstein.
Rats! Thought I'd be the first person to mention Castle Wolfenstein on the Apple II+ (plus). We used to sneak playing it in our high school's computer lab, along with Sea Dragon and a few others I can't remember. If you got caught playing games in the lab, you'd be banned for a week. The lab computers had a word processor called Wordstar on

In the last two games I've played, the Korx surrendered to an attack by the Drath within about 10 weeks or so of war being declared. It worked out for me, because I was the one to whom they surrendered. However, as you know, when they do surrender, all their ships go pirate. Both times there were at LEAST 50 pirate ships left behind. Who surrenders with over 50 ships left??

I love HW2. C&C Generals and HW 2 were the first two games I purchased for my computer when I bought it in 2004. That is, the first two games I purchased that were professionally done, and not through Real Games or something like that. HW2 had the graphics and sound effects that I craved at the time, and Generals had very entertaining game play. I spent a lot of sleepless nights with those two games. I still feel that the artwork for HW2 has yet to find its e

I don't know if you guys noticed this or not, but it's been my impression that the Korx are a bunch of Sallies. They don't expand very aggressively, and they are almost always the first to resign in my games. In the words of Roman Moroni, "They are miserable Korx-suckers".
I honestly wonder why Stardock actually bother being so player-friendly sometimes, it seems they get nothing but grief for it. Release a series of great games with no copy protection, no cd requirement and no DRM? We'll moan about the delivery system! Release a free update which you don't have to but work on for hours and at cost in order to say thanks to customers - never fear, they'll complain that you didn't put in certain ship designs!
They do it because they realiz
I know of no companies which try to do journals and keep players informed as much as stardock ...
Try working in an accounting department sometime. We have daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual reporting processes. I think the OP's point was, to quote Dr. Evil, "Throw us a frickin' bone here", no matter how small it may be. Even if it's just, "We're too busy working on the beta to post about the beta." We have our proverbial h
perhaps submerge the whole system in liquid nitrogen.
Nah...I figure you could just hook it up to a few dozen fan boat engines with a freon feed and you'll be fine. You'll generate about 7,500,000 btu of cold air, but the polar ice caps are melting anyway, so you'll be helping the environment...while burning a train load of fuel and freon, that is.
very rarely is it worthwhile to build a farm on the +300% tile
Not true. When I get a planet with one (or sometimes more) of these tiles, I throw in a couple of factories and start churning out transports. With the Recruitment Center and Fertility Clinics (or whatever they are called), you can refill the population in no time.
