and this is why i was wondering about the minor colonize=1 code in scenerio files. btw, if any of you feel like trying the hot seat deal with a minor race, feel free, im interested to see if its just my game, tried it with no other mods and got the same results, wonder if thats why the minors will sometimes send 12431 constructors seemingly across the map to set up starbases? ive compared the two test races with thier major conterparts till im blue in the face now, dont see

using 1.2 beta atm, and the minors dont seem to do much really - i have never seen them invade at all, so im a bit amazed that you are Dread.. like others, ive seen starbases and scouts here and there, otherwise nothing but fodder for the major races. meanwhile, back at the ranch. the Jess... are useing arcean's range right now, thier "center" is that major races main planet. meanwhile, the snathi have the same issue with the drath. now, it could be b
Reset a hotseat game, scenerio. minor colonize = 1 minor invate = 1 and.. for some reason the snathi that i hotseated to again had the out of range box.. until i zoomed out on the map and realized that for some reason the home world range "radius" was set to... the Drath! reasearching now, interesting either way
interesting - just used crt+alt+z on a normal (non scenerio) game to see what would happen trying to "play" a minor race - with the following settings planetary invation in techs - note that i still had this tech listed as reasearchable each ship that i tried to move gave the "out of range" pop up, even when launched from homeworld. back to the drawing board
forums hate me
Well, ive tried almost everything i can think of to make the minor races colonize in a normal game, and using the scenerio's as well. Minor Coloniize =1 Minor Invade=1 both seem to do nothing. (along with the reverse, setting it to 0) nor does removing or adding the Tech Root Tech line in the race config which appears in each minor race's listing. nor does giving the minors any of the following tech's in fact via the raceconfig file <b
anyone take a look at the planetary improvments file? Tons of buildings that never made it acctually in the tech tree.
Was Ctrl+L disabled? no longer distributes planets, leastwise not in the game i tried it on
someone mentioned the fundementalists evil event.. now i want to see if one can be made for the good races. as for end game, quite a few good suggestions for help in that area, the ai does at times seem to run slow on ganging up - with that being said the few 1.2 games ive messed around with did have the races creating more alliances, which should help as well.
after going crazy trying to find ships, i went with a numbers based set up 00-aa-mm-dd where aa = attack, mm is move and dd is defense - doesnt take into account types of attack/defense, but still allow's for a name (nemisis/dragoon/banshee etc) from there, diferant ship types get a differant number set, so my attack ships are always "on top" of the list 02-mm-rr (move/range) are transports 03-mm-rr are constructors and so on typical beginn
Just an update messed around with the scenerio settings (1,0), race config and everything else i could think of with no luck. even went so far as to give a minor a colony ship at the start of one game.. which again did nothing.
dont suppose you figured out how to have the minor races colonize while you were at it?
Welp, unless im blind (a good possibility), i dont thnk the change of 2/year can be done - cant find it anywhere in the xml files =/
42 tech's stolen last game - rare planets /rare stars large galaxy.. sure, a bunch of em were stuff i didnt need, but stealing black hole gun midgame helped diversify my missle-based fleets. what does seem odd though is that even when you come close to or completely max out spending.. you still dont seem to steal techs faster. were talking like.. billions of credits here, what state sponsored scientist in the real world wouldnt think twice about that kind of cash? with that being said
Yep, would love to see a more readily available option to threaten/bribe for a favourable AI vote, along with seeing what the vote will be on say a month-or hell immidiately after the previous vote. Couple those options with more variety in issues to vote on would really increase the diplomatic portion of the game. However, what im looking to do first is simply increase the frequency of the UP voting to twice a year.. any idea's on how to do so?
forums dont like me, bump
As it stands, the once a year UP voting seems to be too slow - anyone know where to look to increase this to 2/year? (im thinking once as normal in january, and again once in june) Although the current amount of issues is limited, doing this would make the voting process a more intergral part of the game. Along with this, if you notice, many of the "ethic" events also happen around the same time, again, id like to incrrease this. any help, would be much obliged.
WIth 1.2 out, resurecting the old thread to see if anyone has thoughts on this.
Not a big deal, but when running the mod, chosing expansionist govt type, not all of the political parties will show up on the screen during a vote, no biggie! handy up/down arrows to see the vote counts.. except the down arrow does not work. Also, the use every hull type doesnt seem to be working either as a "tech" - least wise for me.
blind as well when it comes to the AI checkbox, can we enable via replacing the 0 with a 1?
No working this coming weekend (Memorial weekend)! The weather is supposed to be beautiful. You need to take time to rediscover baseball and bike riding. Eheheh - born and bred in Detroit/Macomb here - and usually try to do the "one hellova ride" through Hell, MI every year - for street riders, lakeshore drive in Grosse Pointe offers decent v
would love to find the code for tiles in general, and events as well.. just to mess around with the odds
All the extra work by everyone at Stardock needs to be commended.. as for summer, well if you are staying in MIchigan for it, be prepared for humidity @ 90% for a good portion of it (good time to really work on that expansion /wink) As for the updates, from what we have read they will deffinately add functionality and some new depth, especially the combat and your aforementioned focused agression tweaks. speaking of combat.. one of the way's i adjusted the disparity of att
Yes, the camera move is annoying, but it isnt fast enough most of the time to have you realize you just moved the wrong fleet/ship - please offer the option of no auto selection at all, would make life much easier on larger maps especially.
Im thinking that folks who say that the AI is easy are also playing on huge/gigantic maps. For whatever reason, the AI is not as agressive on very large map sizes, giving you the time needed to build up a decent defense, what mostlikely needs to occur is the proximity code (or what ever code it is that defines thier attitude twards you based on how far away they are) needs to be adjusted to take into account the acctual size of the map - ie have the ai's respond as if it was a medium map.
