What version are you using? I read about some production bonuses (like moons) are not working correctly in the latest beta. So to answer your question, yes, others are noticing something hinkey in the production. A lot of things are being addressed in the next patch. I think I am just going to wait for it.

Not to revel in anyone's mis-fortune but thank you ben_sphynx! I was beginning to think I was the only one this happened to. I can't* play the game at all right now because of being stuck inbetween upgrades. I have no idea what actually got installed, what didn't, or if running the game will cause a LOT of problems. *: can't meaning not in good concience. The game launches fine right now, but what got hosed (if anything) might have serio
When I start out next to the Arceans I end up thinking "oh, great. the culture idiots of the 21st century". But their not the ones I love to hate. Those uppity tech whores, the Terrans have to be my top pick. I never seem to get a start next to them, they end up on the other side on the galaxy and grow fat. They don't last until near the end because they are smooth talking diplomats, but becuase I have to hack my way through 2 races to g
See, I knew that was gonna happen. The post was not directly aimed at you, but the comment of quality. I completly agree with what your saying about a customer has the right to expect quality. The point I was trying to make is that there is quality here. I feel I got a top notch game becuase of the quality of effort put into it. The OP was ticked off because the patch got delayed. I am thrilled there even IS a patch in the wor
I used the viewer one time. Laughed and have not used it since. it slows down my old system anyway. I do agree with the ideas here. One thing that came to mind reading this was changing the view. but I thought about viewing the battle from the perspective of a bridge on a command ship. A slightly higher, and to the rear of the formations, at a distance one would expect from a command ship that hangs back a little from the battle.
yeah. I just double checked it. I designed a colony ship with 2 and could load 1,000. First turn design. I could not fit anything else on it, namely an engine. So it was a slooow ship.
and expect it to be of a certain level of quality Define quality. One of the biggest problems the game ran into was the customer base having outdated drivers. I define qualty like the slogan "quality goes in before the name goes on". Quality is putting the best you can get, into a product. I think
I (very) recently noticed that too with the colony ship and only 100 on it. So I decided to fill it up and as you state, you can only load 500. I suspected what the culprit was and was correct. Some of the core ships have modules on them that are not functional. (extra engines on some, ect). The way to tell what is actually working is to bring up the ship details and look at the components list. With the initial colony ship, there is on
First thing that poped out at me was "Current display mode: 1024 x 768 (16 bit) (60 Hz)" According to the readme file, 16 bit won't cut it. it requires the desktop to be running in 32 bit mode. See if correcting that will fix it. ***************************** edit: I thought the .cra files were created by Smart Exception. The game afaik does the debug.err, but I think it does need to load first, as it is created when you "exit" the game.
I have seen this also. But when I get it, it lists the other required techs below the statement "# more techs required for {shipname}". I would suggest trying to scroll down the tech description and see if they are listed. Not sure how this has been changed in the beta, if it was touched at all. Marc, I see this with user defined ships, not core ships. It's listed in the tech description on what that tech releases. Same place it shows w
Thanks Cari. That folder has even more junk designs in it than the other one. It was one of the few places I hadn't looked, as most of the designs were not made in a metaverse game. I do not use mods, and now that I am past the "learning games" any I play will be metaverse games. Can I clear out that folder and get rid of the old designs, or would that cause other problems?
It's probably moot until I get the correct BETA running, but I investigated a little bit more on the ships problem. I can't add the ship if I access the ship list from the main screen. I can add it if i access the ship list from the planet view screen. I initially tried to access the ship list from the main map and was able to add the scout, I reaccessed the list from the main screen and tried to buy one outright from there, hoping to for
You can get the patch snail mailed to you, but it comes on an 8 3/4" floppy. I am sure you have a drive for that. (just kidding, of course)
It annoys me that there's no penalties for choosing the evil option, stuff like forcing pain on your people or shortening their lifespan or enslaving the natives should definitely have negative morale and loyalty implications, it only makes sense. Typical human responce. I am evil, my ra
It would depend on how fast you want to get upgrades. I tend to balance my planets more, although I am not sure I will stick with that strategy. That being said, I found that 4 factories usually can get my upgrades done in a reasonable amount of time. But that was also under 1.0x. I am (trying) to help with the beta right now, and social waste being fixed is going to change a lot of things I used to do. IE: when a social upgrade became available,
Driver Date: 12/1/2004 04:12:50 hmmm, is that the most current video driver you have available?
From what I have read, Firefox is a browser. Correct? I remember reading others have had problems using firefox creating metaverse charecters (iirc). Don't know if that might be the culprit. That is about all I can offer.
didn't get to even hit end turn before running into these. I play a custom race, but have not decided on a ship set yet. When I started this game, I chose a new set (alterians). before starting I deleted all the old files in the ships folder (Yor ship-set designs). I did want to keep my ship names (one of the reasons I deleted the old files). <b
I think it would be a real good idea for stardock to make a sticky thread "If you think this game is no good, post here" Then someone could occasionally pop in and try and help. That way the board does not get cluttered with pounds of duplicate topiced threads. If someone still makes a new thread, it could just get closed with a referral to the correct spot. Try updating your drivers. That helps a lot of people. i am sure
Ah, ok. I knew they made it a 4 per sector limit, but didn't know they tossed the spacing limit with it as well. I guess part of it is galaxy settings. I don't use abundant anything (common, common, occasional) and large galaxies. I would not complain about that many good planets in my start sector, if that sector was under a school desk. But I also don't care for end game MM when you have 150+ planets (so i don't choose those settings) <br
guess it would have been quicker to research the techs after all. jk
Thats nice. But all those SB right next to each other make the whole thing look suspect. Mod your game a bit?
Geez. I read your post and not the quote. my bad. When I installed the game originally, I went to the compaq site to get all the current drivers for this system, and dowlloaded what they had. This might be the last set up of it's kind know to exists anyway. lol. No reason to expect driver updates for onboard items no longer being supported or used. The 04 gc drivers ARE the most current from compaq, and as far as I know I have to get any drivers for this system, from th
I am trying. I has a nice rig while back but it got fried with a power underage. I could not afford to fix it then, and now any of the hardware is just obsolete. I need a new system and have been looking around, but a good gaming computer is going to cost (for what I want) a min of $1800, up to $4300 for an Alienware rig. I really am sick and tired of running in to requirement problems, so what I want to get is not likely to be compromised. <b
Free starbase upgrades are a benefit of evil races, not neutral.
