I don't really have the time unfortunately. To be honest I enjoyed the writing and the storytelling with others more than the game.

I'm loving most of these suggestions although with one major caveat: alot of what makes this game so fun is an overall lack of micromanagment. One can micromanage if one so chooses and can easily maximize his score, however the game is still very playable and winnable(sp?) without the extra effort. If we start having to supply ships with ammo or bring them back to port every 10-20 weeks then the game becomes a micromanagment nightmare, I also wonder what would happen to loading times on large
Ok I got it. The Continuam(sp?) Transfunctioner. It's power is only exceeded by it's mystery and it's mystery is only exceeded by it's power
Most people will probably build one or two for fun but it's apparent that with all the research that goes into one of these things all the constructors you need to build and the fact that it moves slower than a Buick on Sunday that they're not a viable strategic option. But hey who doesn't love a big explosion? :D
Wickedness factor is off the charts! :CONGRAT: Keep it up guys. If you give half as much attention to society as you do to GalCiv then you can sign me up for a pre-order.
Just checking in
In my experience miniaturization is the key. With good miniaturization I build ships that have far more attack and defense than anything the AI can put out. I don't play on the highest difficulty but I find that with good miniaturization my medium hulls more than hold their own against large hulls. when I do get around to building large hulls then it's lights out. Also I tend to try and focus my weapons/defenses to take advantage of what the AI is using. Most of my ships have 2 types of weaponr
A few years ago while awaiting the release of EQ2 I joined a roleplaying guild. for months before the game came out we all happily rolplayed along on our guild's forums. It was the most fun I've had in a long time, however a few months after release the the responsibilities of life caught up with me and I was forced to stop playing. Unfortunately I've lost contact with that great group of people through 4 moves, a career change and a young daughter. well the writing bug has bitten me again and
In my opinion one of the reasons the gameplay and AI is so good in the Galciv2 series is that the devs know when to leave a feature out. There have numerous instances of features that even Brad admitted would be awesome but he would not put into the game. The reason? Simple, the AI would not be able to properly utilise it and that would compromise the quality and integrity of the game. While it is clear that brad rocks the Casbah at AI programming, I think that a large part of why AI
Actually I first heard the story on a news talk radio station here where I live. the commentator who reported the story is quite reputable and he had been at the ebay auction himself. What happened was the guy bought his kid a GH3 for christmas and then caught him smoking pot. So he put it up on ebay with an explanation of why. He apparantly was severly flamed, likely by people who diagree with pot laws. I suspect the winning bid was put forward by someone who disagrees with said laws
If you go to the support/bugs section of the forums on the top you will see a pinned post called 'fixes for pathfinding and metaverse error 12.' In it the lovely Carielf has a link to a version that will fix the problem for you. Just read and follow the directions carefully.
Thanks Kyro, that got it and thanks CariElf for taking the time to put this. You guys continue to rock.
Perhaps... well not perhaps, I know that I'm inept but It does not seem to be working for me. If I try to launch from the desktop then it just launches 1.8e. If I try to launch the .exe file that I copied and unziped the file into it says binkw32.dll was not found.. What am I doing wrong?
Try to bear with me I've got alot on my plate but I'll be sure to add a new part every couple of days. I hope you're all enjoying it.
The following is a story I have been composing in my head for awhile now. I hope I articulate it well. Although it is set in the DL universe certain events unolded very differently than the campaign. Enjoy. THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN CLASSFIED LEVEL 7 BY THE ALTARIAN REPUBLIC SECURITY SERVICE. ANY VIOLATION OF SECURTITY PROTOCOLS WILL BE PUNISHED UNDER THE FULL WEIGHT OF THE WSIP CONVENTION. FEMALE VOICE 1: Haber control are you recieving this? MALE VOICE 1: Confir
I purchased and loved the original GalCiv, however if not for a full page ad in PC Gamer I would not have known about GalCiv2. So from my pespective, keep up the print ads!
I selected the creativity ability once, and I believe that's what led my scientists to discover a new propulsion method that oncreased the speed of all my ships by 50%. It apeared to be a random event like finding a precursor ranger, or an economic boom.
The third and fourth prices are a real steal! Nothing like paying 400-500bc for a 54bc upgrade. Sounds like my old mortgage
Thanks for the pointers I'll try again and see if I can't turn the tables.
After pasting the AI on normal a couple of times I decided it was time to turn up the difficulty to tough and see how it would go. I played version 1.0x, tight clusters, abundant stars, common planets, uncommon habitable. My custom race has a 20% bonus to economics and research with some points thrown at weapons for good measure. Even with a federalist government the AI's economies were blowing mine away from the get go. I was behind in r
One thing that may be worth pointing out is that everyone is talking about using groups comprised exclusively of large and massive hulls. Now I'm no military genius but I do know for example that if you put a group of tanks on the battlefield with no infantry support they're gonna have a very bad day. It's all about balance. I was also a little disapointed when I discovered that after all my research that my large and massive hulls wouldn'
Just to add my 2 cents, I don't know if anyone has ever played Star Wars Rebellion but I really liked the combat system used in that game. Basically the ships in your fleet would be grouped based on type; fighters as a group, some light cruisers and destroyers as another group and so on. At the outset of battle you could give orders to each group individually or to your whole fleet. You also had a few options about how your
