Am I correct in saying that the Mod Tools have still not been released? And that the current crop of VERY interesting mods are all being done with the Beta Tools? If so...Bravo Mod Makers! I am humbled and am VERY anxious to see what you all come up with once the full release of the Mod Tools come out.

I can't recall if it did with 1.0 to now. If you have the physical disk, you can test it. Uninstall, reinstall, start a game, save, update, try to play the same game. As a note, the patches for Gal Civ 2 did cause saves to break, if I remember correctly. So, though they are different developers, it might be the same here due to Stardock Central.

And with this topic post, I suddenly begin to see the need for an ignore option. After reading several of this person's posts...I truly can't believe anyone would have all of these questions. If it is the case, well then I hope that they can find someone with more patience and understanding than I. Good luck.

Actually, it is kind of hard to have that perspective at times. Frankly, this game has only been out less than a month. They've made some improvements already, but if you're familiar with how things go with Stardock (and I assume by extension Ironclad), then you're probably aware that they take their improvements seriously. They really try to offer more options. I guess the main question is...where does the line of "Vision of the Game Designers" end and "Vision of the Ga

Actually, I think that if a person chooses to have all of their gates running like that, then they should be allowed to do so, however, they would be subject to the increased micromanagment needs as well as the loss of control over their fleet composition. Basically, comes down to "How do you want to play it?" And accepting the needs of that style. Myself, I turned off the Dark Fleet Autocast. But when I needed a number of ships rapidly, I would key a number of them one right after a

At one point, while playing, I stumbled onto an interesting thing. I jumped in my fleets staggerred. When my first fleet jumped in, the fastet group, I immediately ran them to the other side of the gravity well, trying to get them through (trying to race to the next system). They were pounced on and pursued. My follow-up fleet, the actual attack fleet, jumped in and began hitting the planetary defenses, destroying turrets. After a few seconds, I realized my attack fleet wasn't being assault

What is it that those that are bothered by this subject wanting to happen? Are people wanting to get a win and that's why they are upset? Are people upset because the opponent is not "punished" for wanting to leave? Heck, there's been more than a couple mentions about trapping a person in a game they don't like. I don't know, and it's probably just me, but...I would think that playing online is primarily for fun, not stats. Is getting that point in the win column or making sure your

After you've killed off the pirate base (with the Novalith, I guess), I think the pirate ships just stay in system at that point and don't go raiding anymore. So, then you'd have a system with a ton of ships that you can use as target practice from time to time...or to train up your brand new Cap Ship. Could even leave it as a free buffer against your back. Keep in mind though that the planet heals after you hit it with the cannon. So, you might need more than one to kill it, ot

Do the Phase Gates work between stars? If so, then you have another way to quickly move between stars, and without using the star itself. Something to keep in mind, if they do work this way.

I think you might have the wrong idea. Like vannerhawk said above, you have 3 empire wide pools of resources. One for metal, one for crystal, and one for credits. To get more crystal, build crystal extractors (should be about 250 credits). Ice planets have a lot of crystal points, while I believe desert has more metal. Trade Ports are used to set up "trade" between planets in your empire. Basically, you get more money due to this "trade." Really, it's just another money resource

The warning sirens never even sounded. The impact shook the "Pirate's Base" to its core. The survivors tried to make sense of what had just happened. Somehow, they had just been hit by something that travelled as fast as a ship in Phase Space. That was supposed to be impossible, due to the gravity well. A few realized it was very much possible when they glanced out a viewpoint and saw three more streaks heading towards them. The base was destroyed by the third shell without even firing a s

Well, there's still the issue that those that want to quit would choose that "Save and Continue Later" option and the game would still end...they would just delete the save or never come back to it. And requiring all players to agree first? I'm not so sure that being "held hostage" in a game you don't want to continue (for any reason, selfish or not) is such a good idea. I imagine that some players run into playing too late, must leave for a reason as simple as Must Sleep, and quit.<b

Hmmm... (REPOST) Just a couple of amusing things I've noticed about the game and the people here in the forums discussing the game. 1. Discussions that spring up regarding how something is worthless sitting next to another thread discussing how powerful and useful the exact same thing is. (Culture and the Deliverance Engine, for example.) Guess this game might have more than a little depth to it, since the same aspect can be viewed completely differently by different peopl

Actually, there are a number of discussions talking about how to defend your planets while your main fleet is out subjegating the rest of the solar system. That being stated...I'm sure others are already working on this or will be once the full mod tools are released.

Yeah. I was watching my fleet destroy the pirate base when I zoomed in a saw the burning "torches." I was slightly amused, but was again reminded of them when I was watching an episode of Firefly my TiVo had picked up. "Huh...pirates=reavers?" Though I don't think it would translate well, I all of a sudden had an image of a Serenity Mod. In any case, it amused me.

To be fair, most 4x's (at least that I can recall) don't have Campaigns. MoO2, SMAC, and Gal Civ1 all did not have campaign modes, at least not for Gal Civ1 without the expansion. Now, yes, Gal Civ 2 does have a campaign, but that imposes limits on your Tech and restricts you to a map size that you cannot really control. Which is fine, it's a perfectly acceptable way to handle the campaign, it's just...I don't know, slightly odd to me. As this is a hybrid, but with more of a R

I don't know about you, but when my worlds are under attack...I don't think "Hmmm, I can wait the minute+ it will take to get a Cap Ship out." I generally think "CRAP! GET THOSE FRIGATES OUT THERE NOW!" Outside of combat...might be something to consider, though I don't know if it really is unbalanced. Might be good for a mod.

There might be one of the previous ones that you haven't researched or queued up for research yet. This is assuming you're already on the Fleet Logistics Screen of the Research screens, as you seemed to indicate. Make sure you have already done all of the ones to the left of the one you're trying to do.
