[quote]This happens (exact description, game mouse cursor, black screen after alt-tab) for me in DA. If you press ESC it comes back... (well at least for me). Try that?[/quote] Hrm, could have sworn I hit a few of the 'major' keys, ESC being one of them. I may not have, I'll give it a shot in the future. Additional notes : Advanced Navigation Centers has a typo on the tech tree - it shows as "Advamced Navigation Centers". Additional bugs : I clicked turn and lost my t

So far it's looking good and I have yet to run into any stability issues. I'm playing as the Arceans and had just a few notes/questions. Note : Severe retina bleeding is happening every time I colonize a planet due to the unique UI features. My race's color is yellow and so when the planet name comes up, highlighted, it is bright yellow with white letters. If you click the name it doesn't fix it, but using the arrows to move the cursor either direction does. As I'd like to keep what

Why would the shortcut, which works in the installed version, need to point somewhere else in the new version? Gremlins? Seriously, though, if you've not tested to ensure you're actually running the executable directly you are running a somewhat slim risk of the shortcut being FUBAR.

So I've been scanning the software shelves at my local retail stores that carry software and so far I've come across ZERO DA boxes. When Gal Civ II came out it took a while to find it, but I eventually found it at wal-mart of all places. The only thing I've been able to find regarding DA is the combo set of Gal Civ II and DA and there was only one on the shelf of the store that I found that. I like the i

Is it really worth the 29.95? If so why? I would be interested in what other Gal Civers have to say. Did you not read the review they posted on the main page a few weeks ago? I forget what gaming site reviewed the expansion, but basically they said it could have been GalCiv III instead of an expansion, due to all the changes.

Well, point #3 from the OP was originally that way when they game released. They changed it when it was pointed out that when ships got into range for weapons, both should be in range for weapons. Perhaps an ultra-tech that adds an item you could put on ships (for a lot of space) that gives your ships first strike capabilities?

Bah, I didn't hightlight his badges yet it still managed to quote them in my post. :/ Then, when I click 'edit' to rectify the issue, it says "Welcome Draknost! You don't have permission to access that page, guest! Please sign in, Draknost!" >.< WTF?

Writing happens to be our mode of communication. When you do it right, people pay attention to your ideas. [2nd Lieutenant] [Human] [Very Evil] [Challenging] On a not quite so mean side-note, I did completely ignore the original post in this thread after about the second sentence due to the lack of punctuation and capitalization.

Lets start a petition for the developers to abandon the new expansion pack or any updates until this important area has been addressed. Ah, good, someone that understood the importance of this post! (Sorry for the thread necromancy, I hadn't checked this for replies so late after I created it and was bored on the forums this morning.)

Not only morale, but morale the turn of the election if I recall correctly. You can keep morale about 50% until they tell you next turn is an election, back off the taxes, and win every time. I'd say this was an exploit that needed fixed, but upon contemplating the state of politics in America I'd say this short-term memory issue is about right if our voting public is the example they were using for coding this in the game. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=

Yeah, stardock central rocks. I bought Astral Masters on Friday, and was wondering where I'd have to go in order to put in the serial for it. I'd bought GalCivII out of a box store, so I'd never bought from TGN before and had to create an account to purchase AM as it said an account to purchase was different than an account to download. After confirming the purchase, I logged onto SDC and went to my installed games page to see if there was a 'upgrade demo' button or something of that nature.

Ok, for the longest time I've used a 'unique' smiley face, the semicolon followed by a dash and then a P. This is the first forum I've seen that translates it into an actual graphical smiley, and it looks like I'm having a seizure every time I use one of my trademark smileys. Make it stop!

Good news: It works now. Bad news: I tried several things at once, so not entirely sure which one fixed it. *bonk* The first rule of tech troubleshooting is : Try changes one at a time, so when you fix it, you know what the heck fixed it. But

Draknost: only 1.2 is available on the website here (beta patches are not posted on the site), but if you have 'show pre-release versions' enabled in SDC the 1.3 betas will appear there (if not, you'll only see 1.2). Unless people are willing to tough the potential new bugs in the betas or are having severe problems with 1.2 though, they should stick with 1.2 until 1.3 goe

14 Replies 25,161 Views

Hey, Kryo, question - is the latest 1.2 the only available one to download, regardless of if they use SD central or not? I know that I helped someone out a few weeks back that had the original 1.2 that was full of memory leaks. This doesn't sound like that is his problem, as it is crashing before the game begins, but I'm curious so I know not to recommend to most people to get the full 1.2 in the future. As for Jax, you said you just reinstalled your system. Same OS as before, or did

I find that trend micro's online virus scan does a decent job in removing viruses, trojans, spyware, malware and greyware. www.trendmicro.com and use their free online scan.

but when ships enter the area of phasors, photon torpedoes and such, a mere "+2 to missile attack" is kinda.. ehhh.. how to put it? Pointless. Uhhh, if all you have is +2 to missile attack, then you haven't put enough modules on your starbases. I'm fairly sure I remember having far greater than +2 and well before phasors, photon torpedos, etc.

Military starbases I'm not so hot on. They do seem to take a lot of work for a marginal impact in war faring capability. Their game mechanics, effective or not, are their mechanics. Would like to see them do more than just increase your hitpoints in their area of effectiveness. But, you don't *have* to build them, so I don't. Not that I use them
