Indeed ! With this, I put my end of it to bed. When I start to get personal, I know I'm going to far. I could say I was getting carried away, but anyone who's seen me knows we're on the verge of the impossible there... Apologies to those who had to wade through it all, Please to enjoy the upcomming holiday weekend here in the states !

and there are alot of young adults here, although I am a bit surprised that there are some ppl in thier 40s playing "guess some ppl are young at heart or something" Being 42, I'd have to go with "or something"... And Embird... Thankyou .

Not true. The majority of players will point mostly at UI issues, and comprehension/learning issues. Those can be posted to the regular forums, no prob. Part of the point is that a lot of *useful* reports may get lost in the overwhelming number of not-so-useful or misunderstood-rules or inexperienced-player reports. Sure it's great to be "part of the team", but ultimately that hurts the game more than actually helps it - that's basically what h

On an other note, You may be well advised to select a beta test group that you can rely on, then keep the emails of the tests offline to avoid upsetting those who do not understand the Beta test process. Furthermore, making the whole world your beta test department is much less productive then managing a small statisticlaly and technically significant beta test group. The public display of your tecnical failures tend to reduce your customer's confidence in your en

Posted this in the other CTD thread but he has Vista vs. my plain ol' XP. I didn't want to create confusion in the other thread ( mainly mine ... IIRC game was processing end of turn/beginning of turn. As a side note... I did not notice any of the polygon protrusion issues in my limited testing last night, but until I can get a little further along into some other ship styles... <br/

Downloaded and tried Beta 5 last night. First time in a while I've gotten a CTD. IIRC it was just finishing up processing a turn. Update on sound issues.... I had updated my video drivers, which included the catalyst control center. On a lark, I uninstalled the control center. I then went into the vid card properties and used XP's update button. I let XP search the net to update the driver, which it did. Upon reloading the save game that I experienced all of the sound issues with, I was able to play it for an hour without a single glitch. I also noticed that the quick save and auto save were ta

I have been playing the updated 1.3A, and for the first time am experiencing a drop out of the sound. I have never had a sound problem throughout all of the betas... this is a new development. If I alt tab out and back, the sound will come back for a few turns, then cut out again... I have not had this problem until this build, and I swear I can hear the sound faintly in the background, like the volume slider in the game was adjusted all the way down. I notice it most when I exit out of the ship

We interupt this thread to bring you an important "update".... As of 1.3A, Numbers 1 and 3 from the OP are taken care of... These guys keep finding new ways to amaze me. I have NEVER had a program that was taken care of by the people who made it like this one has. Hats off to you all ! Oh, wait... where'd I put my hat....

Most of the problems that you guys have i'm guess is either you system, drivers, or video card... I have a pretty much brand desktop, and the game plays fast, smoothly, and has never frozen or crashed. I have played it on a sony viao laptop with 512MB of ram (ran so slow...took like 10mins to load a save) and found out thats not even close to amount of ram the game actually likes to use, about 700MB..... Welp... my system is near new with 2 gigs of ram, 256 meg vid card, 2.8 dual core i

Firstoff.... Thankyou ! I have really enjoyed playing all the way through the betas... I especially appreciate the return to the stability of the 2nd beta, as well as a much improved AI. I do have three things that are frustrating though... 1st- As documented in other threads, the end of turn does not change the turn button green. Upon reloading a new save game, it was green for the first turn... I got all excited but alas, it never again turned... 2nd- The dr

The further adventures of a quack, whose gone to the dogs.... Found and tried running game on one processor vs. two... as long as nothing much was happening, smooth and nice... some lag with alot of ships, but nothing major. Still has a horrible time during influence defections. It's as though the game is trying to do way too much all at once. The sound effects went nuts, sounded like the ai were beating the drum for ramming speed. A window popped up with the Altarians info al

I do have a dual core system as a matter of fact.... although I am not sure how to make the game run on a "single core"... I don't play with the music on at all, just the sound effects. The choppines happens right after a planet turns over, after a huge stutter or two. It's almost as if the game can't believe a planet would want to change... It definitely acts differently afterwards...

Here is a bug I have been able to repeat... The game gets extremely twitchy after another player's planet revolts and switches over to me. Frame rate gets very choppy, and the game slows dramatically. In addition, there's a 50/50 shot of having the mini map "redraw" blue trapazoid without "undrawing" it, resulting in a mini map entirely comprised of blue trapazoids as you move the map around. Basically, it moves the trapazoid around, but you see all of your previous positions trail arou

something new i've noticed in this last beta... end of turn is not smooth at all, especially if i have a ship higlighted with movement left. the game seems to get confused, trying to end the turn while i'm trying to move the ship. when focused on a ship or fleet, it will not let me choose another ship or fleet until i skip the one it's locked on. it will not let me come back to it later in the turn, it forces me to move or skip. ai wanted to trade me concepts of right

>>>Also, I don't see a way of fixing the Galactic Guide Book, I think it should be scrapped. Even if the GGB were available at the Stellar Cartography tech, all the anomalies are gone usually before the colonisation rush is over. No one would bother wasting a planet tile on something they can't use, and can't remove. I agree with this sentiment... the guide book would come way too late no matter what. I find the anomoloies are gone before anything of substance can be built, and asid

In reading all the replies, I would have to agree that political and cultural boundaries are different things, but for the sake of programming and simplicity, and the way they play out in the game, the cultural borders would suffice quite nicely... I like the idea of having each planet have a "political" influence, but then you'd have all these polka-dots of politics all over the map that would be completely different from the "spheres of influence"... In a recent game I

I have thought about posting exactly this.... Do you moonlight as a psychic??? I HATE that other races can just waltz in to my territory. It's the one thing that keeps me from playing this game alot.... The common argument "you can't control borders in space". Anyone remember the nuetral zone? If Cap'n Kirk so much as went NEAR it they were getting an earful from some Romulan with nothing to do but watch space. IMHO, implementing borders is not difficult. Your influence es

I have also had the CTD from a custom designed ship... Was just getting into the swing of things and bam.... Noticed it was from a completed ship/goto screen, have yet to try the other way to see if it is isolated or not. PLEASE need to fix this.... crashing to my desktop makes my eyes hurt ! Like the light comming on at midnight just as you awake... I see the light... IT BURNS !!!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL
