All I'm asking for is some of these over the top melodramatic threads to be locked. (Yes I realize the irony of me posting in this thread which then causes it to go up instead of down the list.) yes! let us censor material in game forums! Forum posts contrary to your views cant possibly contain useful or pertinent information! They must all b

GC2 has so few bugs that you would be startled, because you define "bugs" wrong. A BUG is a problem, mishandling or error in the code. No more. You assign problems stemming from an XML typo, graphics glitch, GFX card problem and even modeling mixup the name of "bug". Literally everything you list ther

Every hour that someone has to spend trying to reproduce an elusive problem that only happens on a few system configurations (but may make the game completely unplayable on those systems) is an hour they can't spend on minor bugs. Basically, console titles have less resulting bugs of any category because they have less bugs tota

those who are refuting my pc console link seem to be missing the stipulation that compatibility bugs fall outside this comparison (i believe a made this stipulation a bit after I made the comparison). I completely understand the difference between developing for a single piece of hardware with consoles and developing for thousands of possible system configurations with PCs. My commentary is that it is far more likely to see typo and game play related bugs in PC games than it is with console (and

What does the drop down tab labeled "bonus rating" actually do? It has two options to label a post "troll" or "insightfull". Does using this option on other peoples posts actually do anything or show up anywhere or is this an unemplemented feature? I ask because I've used it a few times both ways and havent really noticed any results (although I dont really know what to expect either )

Yes, it's annoying when some problem happens -- to you. That is why we are here, to listen to what you hear and address them as quickly as we can. But to compare us to consoles is absurd. Consoles = 1 hardware platform. I agree that comparing hardware issues between consoles and PCs would be absurd. What I was refering to (and did not make

I happen to agree with Stpinmass on a broad conceptual level. If you compare the PC and console market you'll notice that console games have far fewer bugs on release than your average PC game (and yes I know console games are sometimes released with bugs and in a few cases they can be somewhat severe but it still doesnt happen at anywhere near the frequency it happens with PC games). I think PC game developers and publishers too easily fall back on th

This would be in the "nearly impossible to find" area. From our research of this issue and talking to people, it's almost always people with home grown machines that they put in a one or two high powered GPUs. Well while I've never actually heard of one before, an idealy equiped QA department would be testing on "home grown style" PCs as from

Playing devils advocate here but... The shipping retail boxed version of the game contains no level 1 bugs. That is, reproduceable bugs that would severely effect the playability of the game. I don't know how you define your bug levels but I would consider the over heating computer crash a level 1 bug as from what I understand it mad

I've seen far buggier game releases than this one and on much bigger titles. With that said it does seem, based on statements made by stardock team members, that the game was either a bit rushed or the QA team isn't quite up to snuff. I spent 2 years as a QA lead at a notable game publisher and a desent stretch of time doing normal QA work and there does seem to be a few issues that should have been caught prior to shipment, especially consi

I'm looking at creating my first custom race for GalCiv2 and I have one extra point that I am looking to spend on either creativity or luck. So the question I pose to you folks is, which do you find more usefull? Both are fairly random in terms of scope so I'm having a hard time choosing. The other nine points are going +5 for 30% Econ bonus and +4 for 50% Diplo bonus.

What this forum needs is a place to post game stories. That is, a place for people to post descriptions of games they have played. Paradox has done this for a number of games in what they call an "after action report" section and I've gone over this section quite a number of times for some of my favorites games that they make. Unfortunatly they are not currently hosting an after action report section for GalCiv 2. Game stories (as long as th

One of the major reasons I'm so happy to see GalCiv 2 sell so well is that it will open the doors for other new turn based games. Civilization is all well and good but it would be nice to see something else in

Not to be rude but.. I never said it had to be a true mammal or earth like creature I was simply trying to get the point out there.. You really should read a post before you comment I clearly said Mammal reptile insect or something completely differint, I was looking for someone to reply that might have been involved in the proc

He's asking for what they're an analog of... warm blooded? Cold blooded? (There are some other things in there that are involved in "yes its a mammal" but I dont' understand the biology of them, so oh well) and those aren't really "this is an ****"" question as "whats it like" question. I still say it's a silly question. If you really care lo

Not to be rude but this is kind of a silly question. The Drengin are an alien race that did not evolve on earth. The odds of true mammals, as they are on earth, evolving elsewhere is like a billion to 1. Likewise for insects or reptiles. Drengin are Drengin. I suppose you could ask for a deep biological background of their homeworld, complete with scientific species distinctions. That seems like a bit more work then one should really require

While I havent played the game yet (i'm building a new comp that will easily be able to run it in 2 weeks) I'm pretty sure I can answer Question C for you. When the player gives you Mark III phasor tech they are giving you all the info you need to build the gun, build all the sub parts and how to make it work. Knowledge of how to build the earlier type of gun would be not be needed. It would be as if some one went back in time and
